Presented by Dr. Ramakanta Satapathy, PRESIDENT

  1. The case of the Complainant is that the Complainant for his marriage proposals came contact with O.P. a matrimony service having Muncipal Trade Licence certificate. On 12.12.2021, the relationship Manager namely “Annu” sent photographs of a girl named Arpita Mishra, gave her bio-data and told that Mishra family is interested with bio-data of Complainant. The relationship Manager took Rs. 2500/- through google pay and gave mobile number of parents of Arpita. On contact no one picked up the phone. Annu on contact replied she is busy in monthly closing work and thereafter not responded. After payment the O.P. ignored. She promised to give profiles of intending candidates of his community who are older than the Complainant. After repeated conversation with O.P. she shared few profiles who belong to other community or older than the Complainant. When complaint made in reply the O.P. said “to kya hogaya sir, aaj kal to sab chalta hai”. When the Complainant told about Arpita Mishra, Annu replied, her marriage has been finalised. Annu, even failed to arrange telephonic conversation with Mishra family.

The Complainant at last told the owner of O.p. company Prinkya Davi who assured to resolve the issue but later on not responded. After some days when she was contacted in a rude manner replied and misbehaved “Jo karna hai kar lo, hume koi farak nahi padne wala…”

The Complainant lodged complaint in ‘Integrated Grievance Redressal Mechanism’(INGRAM) portal on 25.05.2022 having grievance No. 3530603 but it was in vain.

Being harassed this complaint has been filed.

  1. The O.P. was set ex-parte.
  2. The Complainant has filed Muncipal Trade Lience Approval Certificate of the O.P. having Trade Licence No. JAM-103261-971756 dated 26.02.2022. Payment voucher of Rs. 2500/- paid through google pay dated 14.11.2021. The Complainant has filed the whatsapp chat with the O.P.
  3. The O.P. is a matrimonial service provider and took payment of Rs. 2500/- from the Complainant. As a service provider the O.P. had to give marriage proposals of Brahmin girls younger than the Complainant. The O.P. failed to do so. The O.P. cannot impose to accept the proposals of the other community and older girls than the Complainant. When the Complainant made complaints the O.P. as per statement misbehaved and compelled to filed this complaint. The O.P. is not only deficient in its service but also unfair in its dealing. After getting the payment not behaved in a proper manner. For such acts the Complainant suffered and accordingly it is ordered:

ORDER

The complaint is allowed ex-parte against the O.P. The O.P. is directed to refund Rs. 2500 with 7 % interest w.e.f. 14.11.2021 within one month of this order. In case of non-payment the amount will carry 9% interest per annum till realisation. The O.P. is to pay compensation of Rs. 20,000/- to the complainant.

Order pronounced in the open court on this 2nd day of April 2024.
