I had purchased flight tickets to Goa from MakeMyTrip.com on 24th May 2010 (Booking Id: FLT000016102868), total amount of booking was Rs.16640. On 30th June 2010, I received a sms from Kingfisher Airlines that the flights booked have been cancelled. On calling Kingfisher's customer service department, they confirmed that the flights indeed have been cancelled and that the full amount will be refunded. I called up makemytrip.com customer support (on 30 June 2010) and they confirmed that the full amount will be refunded, and immediately I received a sms from them stating that the Refund will be initiated within next 7 working business days.
On 6th July 2010, I received another sms from makemytrip.com, that the refund for amount Rs.16640 has been processed. However, on receiving the payment, I noticed that only Rs. 12355 had been refunded. On calling the customer support of makemytrip.com, they said that it was due to a technical error, and that the remaining amount will be refunded. I then sent another mail, regarding this, to their customer support on 11 July 2010, and received a mail from them on the same day stating that, due to a technical error the refund was collected after deducting the cancellation charges and that they have updated the balance refund amount and would be processing the refund within 5 working days. I waited for the 5 working days, and called again on 19 July 2010, and this time they tell me that the airline (Kingfisher Airlines) has not yet refunded the amount and that I would need to wait another 7 working days. I then called up Kingfisher Airlines and they confirmed to me that the full amount for the tickets have been refunded to makymytrip.com.
After all this, I have decided to lodge a complaint through indianconsumerforum.org, as its evident that makmytrip.com has already received the refund from the airlines but have not passed it on to me. Since I had paid the amount through a credit card, the amount not refunded cost me in the form of interest that I would need to pay to the bank. Also, its evident that makemytrip.com is misleading me as they have made two seperate claims as to why the money has not been refunded to me (first they said technical error, then they say that they deducted charges by mistake, and now they say that the airlines has not refunded the money yet).
I would like you to please help me with this issue, so that organizations like makemytrip.com can learn the fact that they cannot just harrass their customers and steal their money. Its because of us that the organization even exists today.
