Blackmailing / Overcharging

I was looking for Movers and Packers to shift my Car (TATA Indica), Bike (Pulsar) and other household items from Haldia to Mumbai via Kolkata.

I received the telephone number of Road Master of India (Mr. Khalid Rasool)

After agreeing on a quotation of Rs. 20000/- (60% advance and 40% after door delivery), packing was done at Haldia on 25.12.10. The car was driven from Haldia to Kolkata by their driver. They gave me challans against my goods and a cash receipt for Rs. 12000/- as agreed.

On 27.12.10 I received a call from Mr. Khalid stating that I need to pay up the whole amount and Rupees 3000/- extra on account of loading at Kolkata immediately, otherwise my car, bike and household items would not move out Kolkata.

Now Mr. Khalid is insisting that either I pay up the whole amount or my consignment would be left unattended at their godown. If I pay up the entire amount, who will be responsible for any damages in transit, and how do i recover the damages?


This is sheer blackmailing by the Packer as they already are holding my advance of Rs. 12000/- and my consignment as ransom. If they did not agree on the quoted price of Rs. 20000/-, then why did they undertake the packing and left me stranded?
