I had bought a LCD 32 inch LG colour TV from Great Eastern Trading Company(Old Court House Street Branch, Kolkata -700001, Phone : - 22313816/7) on the 26th of September 2011 vide cash memo no. 8407. I was promised delivery despite wanting to collect the tv myself. As per the sales executive i was promised delivery by 10.30am on the 27th .
I work night shifts but still agreed and came back home early to receive the delivery myself.
Till 12pm no one came and so i called up but did not get through their numbers till 1pm. When i got through i was asked to call back after 10 minutes. Once again i did not get through till 2.30pm . Finally when i got through i was promised delivery by 5.30pm latest as there was some mixup and delays in their deliver schedule.
Nothing came till 6.30pm so i called again and was told that due to a heavy rush deliveries were delayed so i would get it by night. I made it clear that i would have leave by 10.30pm for work and would not be back till 7 in the morning and was given repeated assurances that the tv would come.
Once again delivery was not made and i had to go late to work. I cam back home around 5am and went to sleep after not sleeping a full straight 8 hours from the previous night thanks to the promise of delivery. At exactly 7am these guys turned and i obviously turned them away as they would need to install it in my room and i was in no physical condition to wake up and supervise the same. To the extent i requested them to complete a few deliveries in the area but was told straight off on my face if i want the tv i would have it take it then or it would be sent back. I had the tv sent back with the intention of just collecting a refund as the harassment was too much.
On calling the next day i was told unless the tv came back from delivery no refund nor anything could be done.
This was the 28th 2 days after purchase. Some lady answered any call after repeated tries and then said they would try and re route the delivery back to me and also asked me to call the driver whose number they provided. The drivers no was switched off. I was asked to wait till 4.30 as it was possible the delivery guys would come back to my house. I patiently waited till 5.30 but still there was no response. Finally at 6.30 i spoke to a lady who then promised with a 100% assurance that the TV would be delivered by anytime that night. I repeatedly confirmed with her to assure and give me guarantee for the same and was given the same. Once again i waited till 10.30pm and on calling the lady was given the answer that she could do nothing as she had come home already.
Finally at 10.45pm i got a call from a person who said delivery was not possible as there was once again some mix-up and delivery could not be made.
Then i was finally given the final promise that delivery would be definitely given by 11.30am as i had to go the airport by 1.30pm to pick up a client. I waited till 12pm and was promised a call back by a supervisor in 10 minutes. Once again could not get through for 1 hour and was unable to go to the airport and had to send my staff only. Finally at 1.15pm i was told by senior gentleman in the company who kept apologizing for the entire harassment and asked for one last chance. I was once again promised delivery in one hour max from that time as i had a train to catch at 6pm for which i would have to leave by 4.30pm lates
At 2.15pm i get a call from some laborer who was calling to ask me what bus he would need to take to my house.
I have never heard of a big 32 inch television delivery being made by bus.
I am completely shocked and appalled at the entire way i was treated and the icing on the cake of sending a tv by bus from a location which is a good 12 kms from my house that too during puja rush when the buses would be overcrowded.
I don't know how i can penalize or even get some kind of response from the company who have obviously assumed that they are doing us a favor by offering discounts and have bought the consumers rights by selling products at low discounts.
I would love to elicit some sort of response from the company with regards to the same.
I have my cell phone bill records which will show how many times i have called and the duration's and timings of each call.
