    Default Videocon TV - Poor Service, Poor Quality and Indifference

    We purchased a Videocon TV in the name of my father, Mr. R K Govindan, on Nov 13,2010 (at Chennai). Since January 2011, the display has deveoped problems and every month the same problem recurs. A service engineer, Mr.Balaji, has visited our home to set it right once a month (or even more) since Feb 11 to Jul 11. He advised us to purchase a Stabilizer from them as he attributed the display problems to fluctuations in voltage of power supply. We purchased the stabilizer but the same problem recurred.

    In July 2011, after sending a mail demanding a replacement, we were told by phone on July 20 to expect a replacement within 15 days. But it has been two months and the replacement has not been given yet. And despite me sending reminders by mail, the most they do is call me by phone and give 'reassurance'. On Sep 5, I talked with the local Service manager, Mr Ramesh.He repeated the same old reassurance and told me that the 'process' is lengthy and taking its own time. How long would a process for sending a replacement really take? And anyway, I asked him to send a mail stating this reason and he accepted to do it then but has not kept to his promise. Our 1 year guarantee period ends in Nov 2011. Now, I believe that Videocon is simply passing the time for the guarantee period to end. It is such a disgusting behavior especially from a large electronics manufacturer who claims to be an Indian MNC.

    I am planning to approach the Consumer Court for this issue. Kindly guide me on the process. Such indifference and blatant cheating should not be left to go unpunished. Else, they may make it their usual habit.

    We purchased Videocon LCD 40 Inch in August 2011. for my senior citizen mom and dad. Since then the service people from the day one of installation have not been doing wall mounting and have not been attending our phone calls. Causing inconvenience for my parents.
    I want to approach the Consumer Court for this issue. Can anyone please guide me the procedure to go about the same. These kinds of taking advantage of such aged people is not at all appreciable. Would like to go forfiling in the court for the same.... Please suggest..
