I bought a CMT-DX400 (Serial no: 6102882) Sony HiFi in Nov, 2010.
I had a very bad experience with the dealer as well as Sony customer care.
I bought this system from 'Sony Center' ("Prapti Electronics, A unit of Prapti fashions Pvt Ltd", South City Mall, Shop No. B007-C, 375, P.A. S. Rd, Kolkata-700068, Ph:033-24222423).
The sales service at the shop was not good. Everyone was 'too busy' to give us a proper demo of the system. They could only play a CD, but not the USB key or the radio. This is what they said about the system:
1. Regarding the USB key they said it seems there is some problem with the remote. Later, at home, we found out, you need to operate the USB drive through TV. But, they promised us otherwise!! We didn't want a system where we have to depend on the TV to play music from USB key!
2. One of the sales person told us the DVD drive is 'Region free'! Later, after repeatedly asking another person said the other person was wrong! They don't even know about the system properly!
3. When asked about the specifications, they said each speaker is 50W. But, later we found it is 25W+25W!
The worst thing was, they promised a demo at home after the system delivery. But, nobody came to gave a demo in spite of their promise. When we called them over the phone they were rude to us. Then they said someone will come in the next two days, which never happened.
After that I called the Sony customer service to lodge a complaint. They said they cannot take complaints over the phone and gave me the email id Sonyindia.care@ap.sony.com to lodge an official complaint. U got an auto reply on 7th Nov, 2010 with Request ID: 6352708.
Today is 13th Feb, 2011 (3 months!!), and till now I never got a reply from Sony Customer care!!
I bought the Sony system because I trust the Sony brand. But, I am very disappointed with the misleading behavior of the sales persons and the false promise of the person behind the counter. Now, I am feeling discouraged to recommend 'Sony Center' to people. On top of that Sony India customer care never cared to listen to my complaint!
Will you ever take actions regarding this? How do you plan to compensate me regarding the misleading specifications the sales persons told me to sale the product?
