    Unhappy pretty, colourful vertical lines!

My daughter bought me a sony bravia 32xbr4 lcd tv set around 2 years ago. It was a xmas gift. She worked very hard to save up for this set...The vertical lines started about 3 months ago and would clear up, but now are constant. I have sound but no picture...
They are bright orange, blue, purple etc I've had a tv technician look at it . He says the problem in the lcd panel. This tv cost me $1800 and the picture was really good while it lasted, but gee awfully expensive viewing SONY!!
Sony said they will review this and get in touch with me.

    Thumbs down Another SAD customer

    OH !!!!!!!!
I thought i am the only poor and sad soul for this problem. I couldnt believe that this is happening with sony. They have really gone bad.
I had purchased Sony Bravia KLV32S200A and facing the same discoloration issue with panel. The panel replacement cost is almost half the cost of the LCD.

After reading these post i consider myself lucky that I had this problem after 4-5yrs of usage. But still we are spending our hard earned money on this. SONY has to take a note of it.

    SONY brand name is falling....

I am writing into regards of a Tv that I was only able to use for a month,
I moved to a different location and the pannel was broken during transportation.
Why such high cost and warranty will not cover the damages.
Meanwhile when I bought the tv I was told......No worries waranty will cover even the littlest thing as if the screen were to break.
Shady sales men should be ashamed of the product they sell.
Never again will I purchase a Sony Bravia, Junk.

Thumbs down my bad experience with sony bravia

I veerraju loyal customer to sony ericcson from past 3 yrs using sony vaio, sony digital camera, sony ericcson 810 I and sony bravia and sony bravia music system.I purchased 18 months back sony bravia s series. One day i did not get the picture, only sund is coming. Then i complained to customer care centre and they informed tovijayawada sonly service centre. Techniicial has come and told that u need to bring to service centre. The technician sony sent he dont no any thing which i now features of the bravia lcd. Then immediately i have taken to service centre and told that with in one day we will let u know the problem. After 2 days they called me that your TV board is complianing which needs to replace which costing rs 10000.00. I confirmed the same due to therse is no warrenty. After one weak he again called me that you panel is not working which costing total rs 28000.00. TV i purchsed for rs 32000.00 Then i have asked for some discount Thn they considered rs 17000.00 that also with out warrenty. Then i asked pls return the tv which i cant afford for TV where there is no trust on quality. But now there is no sound from my tv, when i have given with sound. I got very irresponsible response i got from sony customer care centre. I have heared that only sony lcd tvs are getting compliants. No other company lcd's are not getting any compliants. This big corporate company not doing justice to customers. When a failured Sony bravia lcd why they still manafacturing. There is no authority on quality control in Sony. This is one of my bad expereince with bravia. I dont want to discuss about sony ericsson.

    Default Sony bravia panel issue

I'm the 1 millionth victim of this problem. Sony India sucks, they sell all the cheap quality china products in developing countries like India. I have been living in the USA for the past few years and my parents reported me from India that the TV stopped working, they had warned me previously that Sony in India sells inferior products but I didn't believe them and always had a very good brand image of Sony on my mind, but realized that's its very true and would never ever buy any Sony products from Sony India. This is not the case in USA, when you buy any electronics here you have the option of buying an extended warranty for few more $$$, that way something goes wrong the company will repair or replace the new TV set and these companies like Sony have a very good image here too that's why they don't sell inferior parts to these countries also customer is king here and they don't want to lose these big markets.

    Default Sony Bravia KDL 40V4100

I bought a Sony Bravia less than 16 months ago and four days ago, it stopped working. The technician informed me that it would cost $1400 USD to fix, when I bought the TV for $1500. The entire LCD panel would have to be replaced, and he assured me that the damage was not caused by a power outage or surge (The TV is plugged in a surge protector).Although it is outside the 1 year warranty mark, I think that it is unacceptable that such an expensive TV has a less than 2 year shelf life. I do believe that Sony should at least pay for the replacement part - which is around $1100 - and I am willing to pay for the labor.
I fully understand the warranty system but as a consumer and a customer, there should be a unwritten loyalty to me (us) that the product with perform at a high level for a certain amount of time.

Default sony bravia LCD Panel very high replacement cost

    Hi,

I have also been beaten by Sony LCD. I'm not going to buy any Sony product in future. I bought a LCD TV (KV 26V300A) in Feb 2008 for 34K. Now in Mar 2010, the LCD panel has conked off and the service center is asking 18K for replacement.

I never expected Sony to go down so early, and now regret that I should have rather bought LG/Samsung at half the price.

Now, I'm not getting it replaced and buying LG instead.

I'll advise others the same as well.

Default Defective LCD Panel replaced under Warrenty!!!

    Hello Mr. Subhashis Bagchi,

Thank you for resolving my Sony LCD Panel Complaint. The Complaint was resolved after 8 months of constant follow up with the Sony officials.
The activities geared up only from the month of Jan 2010 after getting in touch with you. In the 3rd week of Jan 2010, I received a call from Sony India that the panel is ordered and it will take approx. 1 or 2 weeks to get it delivered from Malaysia...It took around 10 weeks to get the panel delivered to Goa India.

Last week after a constant follow up with you, I received call from M/s. Nishnat Enterprises Margao Goa informing me that the New Replacement panel has reached the service center from Malaysia. Since the Panel was not it stock, the company had to order from Malaysia and so it was delayed. Later, i was informed that the connectors were missing and it would take two more working days to resolve the complaint.
On March 30, 2010, I was informed that the connectors has reached the service center and has requested me to get the LCD TV to Service center for Panel Replacement. I dropped the LCD TV to Sony Service Center and on April 01, 2010 the TV was installed back to my residence with the new Panel.

Now, I am happy that the Sony India has resolved my Complaint....I would say you have kept your words and resolved my Issue....With this reply my fellow Sony LCD TV owners can see some light of hope...

Once again thank you!. I would also like to thank consumercourt & fellow members for providing us a platform to share our problems.

    Regards,
    Gurudatta Nayak

    Default Sony 46" LCD issue

We purchased our KDL-46WL135 11/08. Yesterday the left side of the screen when we turned it on was very blurry, wavy, and went away when it warmed up. It did it again this morning and I called Sony to inquire about how this could happen to a 2000+ TV that has had very minimal use. I was told that I could pay for it to get repaired. I called my Mom who has the same TV and asked if they have experienced any problems and she proceeded to describe the same exact problem that we were having only hers was going on for about a month. I am very unhappy about this, especially since it is obviously a problem that many people are having and Sony does not feel the need to stand behind their product. I will be filing a complaint with the Military sales at our BX since they are large sellers of the Sony brand. Maybe with my blog and all of my contacts Sony will see that the loss of customers is directly due to their lack of customer service.
