I had purchased a SAMSUNG 22inch LCD on 28-10-2008 at a cost of INR 18500-00. It went faulty on 15-11-2010. The mechanic visited my place and judged that the LCD screen has conked off, and the charges will be 9000-00 excluding visit charges.(call no 4028920416 dated 25-11-2010)

My first question is WHY did this panel become faulty within 2 years?
Mechanic replied: Maybe close to Sea Shore.
(I am 1.5 km away from the Sea, and using lot of electronic products, inclucing SAMSUNG fridge, laptops etc, some are more than 5 years old. Mumbai people are living almost in the sea. What about Electronics in Ships in Sea? can we give this excuse?)

Second Question: Does the manufacturer tell the customer if this above corrosion drawback exists at the time of purchase?

Third Question: I have Three TVs in my house. One is a THOMSON BLACK DIVA, running non-stop for the last 10 years(Touch wood). I rarely used this LCD, maybe 1 hour in a day. In such a use, isn't the durability questionable?

Seek your advice on future course in this matter.

Regards
Vijay
