    Default Sony LCD Problems

I have a LCD TV that was purchased 20 months ago. It has recently developed some problems all of a sudden.
After Service Engineer"s visit,I have been told that the LCD TV's panel needs replacement. Replacement is costly
If an LCD TV from from a brand like Sony doesnt work for even 2 years, on what basis should customers differentiate between Sony and other brands? It makes more sense to buy products from cheaper brands which cost far less, and unfortunately if there are problems, the repairs are also going to be cheaper.
Even if LCD panel is replaced, what if it stops working after an year? I believe Sony will come asking for more money to replace that as well. it therefore turns out to be a heavy investment buying a sony product and investing on it year after year to keep it functional. And I have no reasons to believe that the replaced panel will work longer.
To make things more frustrating, Customer Care is hopeless. I have called them n times, and they either disconnect after keeping me on long hold, or transfer the call, or promise a callback or give some phone numbers to call, which nobody answers.

    A frustrated customer

    SONY INDIA SERVICE is WORST
    Dear Sir,
I am facing following problem with my SONY Bravia LCD (Sony-KLV-32V550A) from 8th AUG'10 request number : 5752419 :

The service by SONY INDIA is provided is so bad that Problem got worse even after the LCD had been repaired by SONY Service 2 times, and still the problem exits.(Find these photos attached along with this mail of the Problem, being faced.)
The Irony is that the LCD is still under warranty and the LCD panel has been replaced 2 times, but still problem exists.

    1. On 8th AUG'10 I noticed Red Vertical line is appearing in middle of LCD screen of TV.
    I logged a call with Call request number : 5752419 . on Sunday (8th Aug'2010).

    2. After repeated calls by Me and the Seller(CROMA Store) Service center guys came and took away TV with them and said its a problem with LCD Panel so it needs to be replced..

    3. Then after 2 weeks LCD TV returned to me saying that the problem (Red vertical line in Center) is resolved. But when TV is being switched on by the SONY employee at its still in faulty condition, the exception is that now RED vertical line was on right side of screen and not in center. I again returned back the TV.

    4. After 1 month from my complaint i.e. on 9th SEP'10, LCD TV was being sent to me , but on the very next day,it again malfunctioned, but now its worst than previous. Now there is BLACK STRIPE (1 inch wide) is coming in the middle of LCD screen even after its being repaired 2times as per Sony Service.

    5. So SONY India Service took away my LCD TV to repair 2 times and returned back to me with Bigger problems without solving the problem.

I bought the TV from Croma,Indirapuram ,Ghaziabad on 24 SEP'2009, it warranty is finishing on 23 SEP'10.SO I am worried more than before.

    6. No body listen to my complains/phone calls at the service center. In My case its SONY Service Authorized Center(Digital Rainbows,Ghaziabad), which returned me TV with Bigger problem instead of giving me the solution even in 2 attempts.

    7. I want this to be resolved (TV should be Replaced or repaired)ASAP and an Extended warranty(1 year) should be given to me as customer.

Please let me know if any further information is required and try to resolve my problem as soon as possible.
There is no use of mailing your concern to serviceassurance@ap.sony.com OR sonyindia.care@ap.sony.com .

This is very Bad and annoying , and As it is complete harassment for me as Loyal SONY customer which may lead me to take further LEGAL action as a consumer if my problem has not been resolved ASAP.

    Default Sony LCD TV

I purchased Sony LCD BX300 on 12th March 2010. since for the last 3 months, the TV is going to standby mode and the red light is blinking. I have lodged complaints with Sony 3 times, but none of the visit of Technician from Sony service center yeilded any result. The last time the TV was picked up by the service center and was returned after 10 days with the problem remaining the same. Now I want my TV to be replaced at the earliest before the warranty expires on 12th of next month. An early action in the regard will be highly appreciated. With regards. Sujoy Kumar Das.- 9433049167.

    Default Sony Service Complaint

    Dear Madame/Sir,
This is a complaint regards the service I have received againt my LCD TV Bravia 32" - BX 300.
I got my set wall mounted and have been using it only since last week. I had some clarifications regards the HDMI connection, and hence contacted the toll free no. on 18001037799. I then received a call from Orbit (am assuming the authorised serive agent), to whom I explained the situation (of not being able to connect my laptop thru a HDMI cable - getting no siganl). A technician visited me the next day late evening, by which time I had sent the cable for checking, not expecting someone so late, and not having received a call, despite requesting the same before a visit, so that I could come home from work for him. But to my surprise, he said that he didnt have any way to check and someone would come the next day. A day later another technician came home, again without any equipment, hence depending on what I had available. He again told me someone would come the next day with a home theatre to check the cable and HDMI slots. I was beginning to get a little impatient by now.
I finally decided to call the toll free again and spoke to one Mr. Vikram, who I had spoken to earlier, and he had requested me to call when I was in front of the TV, so he could tell me about some settings. He again told me that an agent from Sony would visit me. After reminding him of our conversation a few days ago, and taking some details from me, he kept me on hold, saying he had to check some other details. I was on hold for a few minutes, till the line got cut. Upon immediately calling back, I spoke to one Mr. Basant, who found out and told me that Mr. Vikram had left for the day!! All this in a span of about 3 minutes! Its only when I showed my dis-pleasure against his behaviour, did he call Mr. Vikram and understand the case. Upon insisting to talk to a manager/senior, Mr. Basant was even unable to do that and finally I managed to get this email address to send this complaint to. To top it off, one of the above even told me that this model (BX300) does not transfer audio thru the HDMI, only video, after which I had to tell him that a VGA cable would do the same thing, so why the HDMI slot then. Of course, he was unable to verify this.
For your update, I finally called and went to the Sony Centre at Phoenix Mills, Mumbai, with 2 laptops and my cable, where the executive, Mr. Sanjay was extremely helpful, beside being polite and courteous. He patiently checked and satisfied our query in various ways.
It was extremely shocking and dis-heartening to have an experience like this with Sony, which obviously has shaken up my confidence with the company. If this is what I get from Sony itself, it would make me think how their agents/authorised service centres would be.

    Hello sir/madam,
I had purchased LCD of sony bravia model no.KLV-19T400A on 19/01/2009, and aftr 1.6 years of successful running it started having probblems in it's display. So I contacted customer support and informed bout the problems . The engineer who visited that time siad that the GB mount ie. motherboard had stopped functioning and that it has got some fault and need to b replaced with new one. So I did the same and got the mother board changed. It's not even 1 year has passed adn I again started facing some problem.
When I switch on LCD , display flashes for 2-3 seconds and goes off and all black and power led starts blinking for 4-5 blinks ,for which I had registered complaint. And the service engineer visited aftr 3-4 days and he said that the panel is faulty and need s replacement, worth costing around 5500rs. .
Now plz suggest n guide what I shall du . It is not sounding feeasible to get the lcd pannel changed coz sony takes no warrant for the replaced items which are not eve lasting or working properly even for 1 year , then what to talk bout it's durability and must say sony is a worst brand in electronics items, after getting such response from sony products. Can't this product b replaced ..or not or I need to throw My LCD out in my dustbin and switch to some other alternative because I can't waste my money in getting my LCD repaired every 8-10 months..

Seeing forward for a positive reply ..asap to get me to a conclusion. for acceptin g or not accepting this brand.

    Lightbulb Sonly LCD Problem EX400

I have a LCD TV that was purchased 14 months ago. It has recently developed some problems all of a sudden.Showing Blue Strip on the Left Side of the screen and displaying some snow onthe middle. after thisi loged the complaint through toll free # After which Service Engineer"s visit,I have been told that the LCD TV's display panel needs replacement. Replacement will cost me 6500+tax+service charge 600+visiting charges 110 somewhere approx 8000/- or more with no gurranty. which seems too costly however he is also suggesting solution offline without sony india and offering me half of the price, but asking me not to inform sony about this. can somebody tell me the excat cost of the product. it seems second option of the engineers is good enough at least if product is not coming with gurranty then its better to buy it from engeneer with low cost.

If an LCD TV from a brand like Sony doesnt work for even 14months and such corrupt service engineers, on what basis should customers differentiate between Sony and other brands? It makes more sense to buy products from cheaper brands which cost far less, and unfortunately if there are problems, the repairs are also going to be cheaper.
Even if LCD panel is replaced, what if it stops working day after an replacement ? I believe Sony will come asking for more money to replace that as well. it therefore turns out to be a heavy investment buying a sony product and investing on it year after year to keep it functional. And I have no reasons to believe that the replaced panel will work longer.

    Hello Team,

I have a Sony Bravia LCD TV (32 S 400A) which I bought it in 2008 from Chennai (Tamilnadu) one of the Sony showroom in T Nagar and gifted to my father who is staying in Thirunelveli District . I just bought this TV with Home theater for my father only because of my father has to be happy in the last stage he can enjoy the music and watching the TV program. Unfortunately Some 20 days back this TV stop working (intermittent issue after some time automatically this TV will turn off (Some time we can switch it on some time it wont switch on ) due to that my father called the local authorized service center to log a complaint. After 10 days no one turned back this request. So I was start involved and call to the center to get the status they said I am not able to track Mr Shanmugavel’s call because of the system issue so just leave your contact details so that we will call you back . But till today they are not come back to me for the status update.

So I just wait one day then called Sony India too free number get register a complaint # 8802812 with the full feedback about the issue and baground of this local sony customer service response. The complaint was fwd to local service center in Tirunelveli they called my dad to bring the TV. (No one went to my native to pickup the tv so we took the tv to service center).

Once my dad reached the service center they switch on this TV and it was working fine so they ask my dad to take it back. After he explain the issue they agree to monitor this TV for some time they said. Even I can find this issue is the known error under sony site but the service center people not able to understand so they just clean my TV resent some conductor and charged 700 RS as service charge after 4 days it was give back to my father with working condition. But the next day the same issue happed (It stop working) after some 8 driep sound it stop working so we call back the same local service center telling the issue. But they are not ready to listen / trying to identify the issue, Again they ask us to bring the TV to service center.

See one thing I am not understand
    1. Why Sony service center people not able to diagnose the issue (either they are not trained properly to handle the issue) or they are not ready to work on this or they have huge work load so that they are not able to narrow down the problem ?
    2. Either the problem with TV Quality or the people in the service center quality of work ?
    3. OR Sony Bravia is not worth to run more than 3 years ?
This time today I talk to these people in Tirunelveli and get the status report what they did (Just clean the TV and reset the cables /connection) for that 700 Rs they charged. See here every time I was asked to bring the TV to service station (from my native to service center will be 50 KM and we have a petrol car it will give only 10 KM per lit so just calculate the operation cost for each time) but the quality of service we are getting out of this is too bad so I thought of write to next level. So I just open one more call (since my old call was closed) # 8877187 and I would like to get the action item from Sony side.

Now I need to know if again this problem happened due to lack of knowledge in the service center people what is the next step ?

Do I need to send this product back to Sony India for service OR
I have to put the TV to dust bin ? OR
as a end user I have to blame myself in order to invest huge amount in Sony for poor quality of product ?
Tell me now what I have to do ?

    Additional information about this TV
TV: Sony Bravia LCD TV (32 S 400A)
Customer name in the complaint My dad Mr Shanmugavel
Contact no given in the call #+ 91 94862 04359
The local service center complaint no: 00457 (which we serviced last week and without fixing the issue they just send back the tv with the service charge of 700Rs +)

    Thanks
