Angry SONY Bravia KLV26S400A- LCD Problem

    Dear Sony

I was the real admirer of the SONY & its product, leading to a purchase of SONY LCD KLV26S400A with my hard earned money collecting bit every month for the dream of SONY experience, i was very enthused on the day 29th DEC'08 i bought, but now i think it was a big MISTAKE.

Now my faith in the product provided by SONY has shattered into pieces as only after the service of 1 year & 6 months approx that too a sparsely used LCD TV has a fault set in on 11th July'10
i am very sad with the product quality, being a technocrat that LCD have enough life, i thought of that the product will last for years which was the image in my mind.

Lets Assume that we use the television for say 8 hours per day...Our Total usage will be 8 * 400(No of Days) = 3200 hours. Does this imply that Sony cannot operate for more then 3200 hours?? In Normal Scenario a LCD TV last for approximately 600000 hours!!!

I called up a service engineer who came to my house at the time of installation & demo; incidentally he mentioned the number on my service card. When i described the nature of defect to him he said that it is the problem of LCD and only solution to it is replacement of the LCD PANEL& will be costing you around Rs. 10000-15000.

The immediate thing after this conversation came into my mind was that had i done any mishandling of the product. The answer was a BIG NO!!!!!!!

Don't you think after investing as huge sum of 32000 on this 1/3 cost of the set is viable and That too, they said there will be no warranty for the new Panel even after getting it replaced. This is very bad.
And apart from this if we go for replacements than what is the guarantee that the panel will not go bad again next year. is this the product reliability index you are giving to the customer.

I am observing from last few years that the product coming into the market works well only in hte warranty period and as soon as the warranty gets over they start giving trouble, since my set is only 6 month above warranty period.

You people think the warranty is valid for 1 year and after that SONY can ESCAPE??? i have told all my friends and relatives NOT to even think about **** SONY.

I am now regretting my decision for buying LCD TV, one should not buy LCD TV & always normal TV is better than LCD.

I request to Sony India, Hope Sony India will look into & help me, waiting for your favor.

    Regards

    Thumbs down Sony Bravia KLV32S310A

    Dear Sir,

I bought the above tv in Nov 2007. Needless to say that I am big admirer of sony brand & products (buying at premium compared to other's). I have sony home theater, sony Handycam, Sony DLSR among other things.

Now, I feel cheated by the brand sony. I might have used the TV for about 12000 working hours (maximum). Pl note, I have one more lcd tv for my mother & kids.

A small horizontal white line developed recently & immediately one more line (white line) appeared. Promptly i registered the complaint with sony call center. ( no. 6209391).

As committed service engineer visited us & looking at the lines, said "panel is gone & needs to be replaced". When I questioned how this can happen as while buying sony person had said about 60000 working hours life for the panel, service guy changed it "suspect the panel", he wanted us to handover the tv for further checks to his service center, which happens to be a outsourced service center from sony ( it is authorised service center)

On learning the same, I didn't want to handover the tv for those people, i found out sony's service centre (hyderabad) and visited them along with tv. After checking the same, they confirmed that panel needs to changed. When I questioned on 60000 working hours, they said it depends on the handling (???) / usage / earthing( I also have a side by side fridge working fine, so can't be earthing problem). But I could make out from them that they are not comfortable answering like this.

Infact, though sony says stabilizer not required, we have one for the tv. Sony now says that I need to make the payment for replacement which I believe is "NOT CORRECT".

For your information, I have 26" lcd tv of LG bought after 2 months, which should have run double the sony (my mother watches continuously), which I bought comparatively cheaper by almost 20% (26" to 26" price of sony in Dec 2007).
Does this mean that my admiration for sony has made me to go through all these troubles and pay unnecessarily for the replacement though 60000 hours still a long way to go? Can anyone from sony help me out please.

I have been requesting all the people i Know to go for class products like sony, which I think is a big mistake from me.

I still feel that sony would consider my case & give justice to my case.
