This is to bring to your kind attention regarding an incident that happened to me at the Bangalore International Airport.

We reached the Bangalore airport at Devana Halli from Goa after 4 days of vacation on April 18, 2011 in Kingfisher Airlines at around 4:00 PM. My wife and two kids were with me. As we were walking towards the BIAL bus to board, a person approached us and said that he could take us for the same bus fare in his air conditioned taxi. The bus fare was Rs 180 for each person and for four of us it would be Rs 720. Since we had to go further for another 3 km, after getting down at the Outer Ring Road/Sarjapur to reach Kasavana Halli, we settled for Rs 750 as the taxi fare. We took the taxi and we reached our home in Kasavana Halli and I gave him thousand rupee note. Instead of giving me the balance Rs 250, he gave only Rs 200. When I asked him why he took Rs 800, he said initially we agreed upon non-AC and after we got into the car I asked him to turn on the AC. This was a pure lie. I told him that it was not true and I would be filing a complaint against him if did not abide by the oral agreement. At that point he became very angry and started screaming with abusive words and spitting in front of the house. He then threatened saying he would come back with his gang to take on me and my family. I just ignored him not to make the matter worse. The taxi number is KA 51 8156, Tata Indica.

If he had asked me an extra Rs 50 after reaching the place saying that he had underestimated the distance, I would have gladly given him the extra money; after all it was only Rs 50! But I they way behaved and his threatening attitude persuaded me to lodge a complaint against him.

I would kindly request you to take appropriate action against him to show that law and order prevail in our country. He should not deceive, be rude or misbehave in such a vulgar and inappropriate manner to his customers in the future. I seek your help in bringing him to justice.

Later I came to know that there was warning inside the airport to the passengers not to approach any other taxis other than the airport authority approved taxis. I did not know about this but in the future I will follow it. This is a hard learned lesson for me.
