Hi sir,

My name is Mani Kant, R/o F-70, Sector-23, Sanjay Nagar, Ghaziabad (U.P.). I have filled ITR for A.Y.2009-10 but yet not received the refund cheque yet.

I received a letter from ITO Ward 1(4), Ghaziabad signed by Mr. Pankaj Jain on dated 26-Nov-2010. In that letter i have been told to submit my bank details in the concern office within 7 seven days of issue of this letter which was issued on 24-Nov-2010.

On 29-Nov-2010 at 11:00 a.m. I went to that office and submitted my canceled cheque there to Mr. Somdutt. He told me that I have to pay 5% of the amount of refund that is Rs. 2400 as my refund amount is Rs.48,000 (44206+3794 interest). If i wont pay that amount he will not forward my details further.

He also told that he will call me and forward my details only when he will received the amount of Rs 2400.

When i asked him for his mobile number he told me that he will call me and took my mobile number.

Please Suggest what to do in this situation.
