Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest software development and services company, Wednesday announced the launch of a dedicated insurance solutions centre at Chennai.

The centre will deliver insurance solutions to global customers and address clients' business and technology needs at the strategic and operational levels, said a statement issued here.

Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, the insurance solutions centre will host over 200 projects for the top 15 insurance customers, added the statement.

TCS' insurance practice contributes to over 12.5 percent of the company's revenue. The company currently works with over 70 insurers and re-insurers globally and has over 4,000 associates who work for these companies.

"TCS offers a complete one-stop solution to help insurance companies deliver value to their customers through asset-based solutions and IT services," said Ravi Viswanathan, vice president and head (Chennai operations) of TCS.

"We will also work with continued commitment to our BPO (business process outsourcing)-based solutions," he added.

TCS, which has over 40,000 professionals located in 33 countries, reported consolidated revenues of $2.24 billion in the fiscal year 2004-05.
