I was coming back to mumbai from banglore on Aug 22,2009. I was travelling in Udyan Express (6530) in sleeper class. I had e-ticket with me. During the journey a person claiming himself to be some special squad came to me and asked for ticket and i-card. I produced the same. As i-card i produced my college id-card. I am studying in IIT Bombay.. so my i card comes under the fifth category among mentioned categories of valid identity as IIT Bombay is a government organisation and i am currently studying there.
But the person refused to accept it as a valid id card. Moreover he imposed a penality on me of Rs 710. where as the fare of banglore to mumbai is 360 only that means penality should be (in case of travelling without ticket) Rs610 (360+250).
When i tried to explain him that a student i-card qualifies under the fifth category of mentioned valid id cards, he threatened me and told that either i pay the penality or he will handle me to RPF guards at next station.
I would like to know what is the procedure for filing a case in consumer court against it.
It would be very kind of you if you could tell me the complete procedure details and nearest consumer court(from IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai) .
Thank You
