    Default incorrect request, false promise for data plan

    I am in a group plan with another number for over 4 years. A few months back, we had a particular data plan activated on one number. We wished to activate the same data plan on the other number in a few months' time. We were assured the plan would be available to us whenever we wished to activate it. I visited the vodafone store on 27 January 2012 to activate the plan. The executive told me the plan is now unavailable. When I explained the situation and the promise made to me, he said he would forward a complaint regarding the same to the concerned department and that I would receive a followup call within 1-2 days. No call, as expected. I called the helpline on 30 January 2012 for the status of my complaint. On providing my complaint number 1109527024, he said "So the request is for a new prepaid connection". "No, my complaint is about vodafone not providing me with a particular data plan as promised". "But the request is clearly for a new connection". "It is a complaint, not request; it's for a data plan, not new connection". In vain. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience"...he also almost said "You could visit the vodafone store", but ate his words as the error was induced at the vodafone store". Any sense going to the store again? He provided a few addresses I could email to. I chose not to waste my time emailing as I do not see anything beneficial in doing so. If the executive at the store could goof up in this manner (deliberately/unknowingly--although I highly doubt) right in front of me, how far can someone at the other end of the email help? I visited the vodafone store, yet again, on 31 January 2012 much to my dismay that the server was down (This is so common that sometimes I wonder when they're actually up and working! I thought Vodafone claims to be Happy To Help 24*7*365!). I know not what will come of the random request sent for my number; I know not whether the data plan will be activated as promised (Why can't the executives just give in writing if they make such strong verbal assurances? If not, do not promise!); I know for sure that I, like many many others, am highly disapointed in Vodafone's inept and absoutely disrupted helpdesk service. I am amazed that in times where MNP is just a few smses away, operators still fail to offer basic services, let alone tall promises made. So much for trying to get tech-savy and wishing to activate a basic data plan.

    A highly disappointed over-ten-years-loyal-to-vodafone customer family!

    After much delay, a lesser value plan has been activated. Not the best, thanks nonetheless.
