Default Receiving a court notice for unpaid bill, more than 1 year after disconnection

I had a reliance wireless internet connection a couple of yrs back due to pathetic service quality, which I disconnected more than a year ago. Now after the disconnection (more than 1 year back), I received a court notice from an advocate of Reliance.
In the notice, it is stated that DESPITE OF REPEATED REQUESTS AND REMINDERS by his client (i.e. Reliance), I never made my payment on time. This is utter nonsense. I never received any bill from Reliance ever since I disconnected. There is not a single registered post mail received from Reliance.
I even did not even receive the last bill that they are asking me to pay. Also that i had connectivity complaints ever since i got the connections. Made numerous speed and access and unfair billing compaints. Frustrated, i told them to disconnect. I never received any sort of bill from Reliance for payment of the outstanding amount. I also agree, it would probably be my fault that since I didn't receive any bill, it was probably my duty to go to Reliance and ask for it.
The point to be noted here is that the service of Reliance has been utterly pathetic and of the lowest ever possible class, but when it comes to squeezing out money from customers, they are utterly first class.
