I had booked a to-and-fro International flight ticket from Makemytrip.com for my boss and the ticket was confirmed (MakeMyTrip Booking ID NN251561832353). One way was used up and later, the trip needed to be pre-poned and hence I called up MMT and asked for the details and got information that there was no seats left for preponement. So, I asked details for cancellation and I was informed that since half way of the journey was completed, there would not be any refund of the ticket charges but the tax amounting to INR 15000 would be refunded after deducting cancellation fee and other charges. Since there was no other option, my boss had agreed to book another ticket from makemytrip itself on an earlier date and cancel this ticket.

I called up MMT and re-confirmed the refund amount and proceeded with cancellation and booked another ticket. When my boss returned, he got a call from MMT saying that the refund amount of INR 180 is processed and when he rechecked with him regarding the difference, he rudely said, thats it and hung up. On my boss’s insistence, I called up the customercare, they informed that only 180 would be refunded as there was sub clause in the ticket.

I checked the ticket and there was no clause mentioned anywhere. I even checked if any clauses or sub clauses were displayed anywhere. I couldn’t find any clauses anywhere other than the ones displayed on the ticket. When I said this, they rudely hung up and it was the same, the next calls. When I mailed them also there was no reply.

Even though this is not directly a fault on my part, the damage done was the broken trust between me and my boss since the refund amounts were confirmed through phone and I don’t have a record of their commitment.

A company’s greed for money and taking it from unsuspecting travellers will ultimately be its downfall. These kind of unethical companies should be banned.
