Female feticide is one extreme manifestation of violence against women.
Female fetuses are selectively aborted after pre natal sex determination, thus avoiding the birth of girls. In India where female infanticide has existed for centuries, now female feticide has joined the fray and is increasing each day.One of the greatest threats to our contemporary civilization is the menace of skewed sex ratio. The increasing imbalance between men and women is leading to many crimes such as illegal trafficking of women, sexual assaults, polygamy and dehumanization of society. There are some illegal institute in India which promote ultrasound training and actually they are teaching how to do sex determination to unqualified radiologist. I am particular afraid with the practice done by Randhawa institute of ultrasound, 7/1 Prem Nagar, Near Tilak Nagar Metro Station, New Delhi - 110058. When my wife was pregnant with female baby they called me five times and shown it to many persons about how to recognige female organ of developing baby. I want to complain government if already MD Radiodiagnosis course is there then why these institute. These facts have to be publicized so that awareness can be raised and appropriate action by the state and civil society be initiated to close this type of institute. I have done written complain about that to social activist of this area Dr. Sabu George and writing letter to Prime Minister of India to stop these illegal institute. The inadequacies of the present law are largely because the Government of India has not been seriously committed to achieving the intent of this Act – The elimination of Sex Determination Testing. RANDHAWA'S ULTRASOUND IMAGING AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE is one of the burning example of this malpractice.
