PRODUCT: Sony Cybershot DSC W275 Digital Camera (ORDER NUMBER: 112470513 for RS. 9290.00)

Hon'ble Sir,

A Sony Cybershot DSC W275 Digital Camera was procured through Indiatimes online shopping on July 24, 2010 which was delivered to me on August 7, 2010. The camera carried six months seller's warranty.

On November 3, 2010, the camera stopped functioning, a complaint was raised with IndiaTimes and as per directions of IndiaTimes it was sent back to them on November 9, 2010. They did not repair the camera and after lot of phone calls from my side, the camera was sent back without repair after one month i.e. on December 9, 2010.

Cancellation request was made since the product was received without repair. IndiaTimes informed that they would be informing that how the product is to be sent back. Again after lot of phone calls IndiaTimes suggested to sent back the camera on December 27, 2010. The camera was sent back the same day.

In the first week if January 2011, Received phone call from IndiaTimes informing me that Cancellation is not possible only replacement remains the option, hence I opted to get the replacement.

On January 19, 2011, IndiaTimes sent the same camera without replacement. On contacting they are replying that the seller has informed about the physical damage and also that the six months warranty is over. I would like to say that both the things are wrong, the camera is still intact and as far as warranty is concerned it remains valid as the fault was reported on November 3, 2010 i.e less than three months from delivery.

Thus, I hereby request that strong action may please be taken against the IndiaTimes and I may please be provided with either refund/replacement for the camera.

With best regards,
AK Shukla

August 7, 2010 : Product received

Date Complaint No. Reason
November 3, 2010 530035 Product (Camera) stopped functioning i.e. not getting switch-on, complaint was lodged with IndiaTimes

November 9, 2010 “ Received 3-SMS from IndiaTimes suggesting to send camera through courier to Mumbai for repair. On the same evening camera was sent as suggested

November 26, 2010 “ Telephonic Reminder to IndiaTimes
November 30, 2010 Telephonic Reminder to IndiaTimes
December 09, 2010 “ Camera received without repair. That too with lot of telephonic reminders to IndiaTimes

December 09, 2010 584980 Cancellation request, since the product was received without repair. IndiaTimes informed that they would be informing that how the product is to be sent back.

December 27,2010 “ Product was sent back (through TNT courier on my own expenses) as suggested by India Times

First week of January 2011 “ Received phone call from IndiaTimes informing me that Cancellation is not possible only replacement remains the option.
Thus opted for replacement

January 18, 2011 “ Received phone call from India Times informing that the replacement has been shipped through Blue Dart courier on 17th January

January 19, 2011 “ Received same product back without replacement although on the top of the packet replacement is written.
A hand written slip was also in the packet mentioning that the product was physically damaged.
It is totally wrong claim, the product is intact, there is no physical damage, it is just an effort by the seller to dishonor the seller’s warrantee.

January 19, 2011 “ Discussed the entire matter customer care: Mr SK Tripathy who suggested that I should represent the whole matter through email in order to case

Since the product is standard Sony product, in anticipation that it carries regular Sony Warrantee it was first taken to local service center of Sony, who on inspection informed that some PCB needs to be replaced but since the camera was procured through IndiaTimes and carries Seller’s Warrantee it would be repaired/replaced by IndiaTimes only. I would like to highlight that they did not mention any physical damage.

Although my past experience with IndiaTimes and its Customer Care has been quite satisfactory but because of non-professional outlook of seller (i.e. very late and in-appropriate response) my experience has been quite dissatisfactory and embarrassing this time. Although I don’t have any direct concern with seller and my dealing is with IndiaTimes only, but I am suffering because of seller’s dishonest attitude and non-responsible characteristics which is contributed towards developing mistrust with IndiaTimes too. Untruthfulness and Dishonesty Of Sellers/Merchants is the very basic reason because of which e-commerce is not getting popular in India.

This kind of enquiring, complaining, reminding and sending/resending and then again wrong-results are really frustrating to me that too without having any fault of mine. In the light of above facts, I request that my order may please be cancelled or a replacement is sent to me. I would send the camera soon after receiving refund or replacement. I no further want to waste my energy in getting indulged into sending and re-sending the product but I need an amicable solution from IndiaTimes. I hope IndiaTimes wouldn’t fulfill my genuine expectations.

Thanking You.
