I purchased a Sony Ericsson handset model No: T715, IMEI No. 359386031677297) for my father from the mobile phones sales company univerCell. But i was not even able to use the hand set properly for 15 days. The phone had a serious camera compliant. When we click on the camera button the screen goes blank and the phone gets stuck. As it is suppose to be i submitted the handset at Doctor Fone, kottayam, which is the authorized service center in kottayam. They told me that it was the error with the motherboard. They assured me that they will solve the problem in a few days and will return the handset within 14 days. It was so important for me to get the phone on the assured date since my father was going abroad. On the 15th day I called the lady at the reception and asked her if the phone was ready. I was really shocked to hear that they didn't even touch the handset. She then give me a toll free number to which compliant can be registered and told me to make a call from the mobile. Every time I tried the number was busy. I keep on calling the service center for the next 10 days but the reply was same. "call in the toll free number and register a complaint". I couldnt simply conceive the fact that they were so confident that nothing will happen to them even if a complaint is registered. Feeling miserable and since my father had to go abroad on 6th jan 2011 myself and my father went to the service center on 5th jan to know the status. Again they told me to call the same number. I told them the number is always busy. I dialed the number on my mobile. It was still busy. They told me to keep dialing. Then I met the service in charge of the Doctor Fone. It was from him I came to know that the number could be dialed only from a land phone. For the last 10 days they were making me a fool. They told that they cant do anything with the phone and it will take some more days to be repaired. After further argument they called the Chennai office and promised that they will deliver the phone on 6th. But today that is on 6th I called the receptionist and he told it will take another 15 days. The cell phone of Mr Dani, the service in charge of Doctor Fone whom i mentioned earlier is not at all responding. He simply disconnect the phone when I call.
It is really pathetic to know that a reputed company like Sony Ericsson deals with the customer this way. As far as i know customer service centers are suppose to serve the customers. This didn't happen in my case. And I dont want anyone else to face my situation. So i really look forward for a immediate action from the respected consumer court.
