I had applied for change/Correction of PAN data where in i had provided the necessary documents namely copy of the passport indicating the change of name.I had also submitted a copy of this to the Office of the commissioner of income tax (Computer Division) R K Puram Delhi along with an application stating the problem.But i am yet to receive any positive reply from NSDL in this regard.
I have called up the Customer care of NSDL on a number of occations but they always have the same answer that they have forwaded my letter & case to the income tax department as my PAN data has been either deleted or deactivated by the income tax department.
I also went to my accessing officer as the message on the Income tax departments site says but got a very strange reply that he cant do any thing in this regard.
Is RTI the only way left now.
I have a PAN number AOBPS5943K with my name as PARAMJIT SINGH but in 2010 i got my surname added to my name and got the new passport made with the new name as PARAMJIT SINGH BHAMRA following the legally laid down method of name change.I have also got the change made in my company record books.I had been paying my income tax on my existing PAN number till now.
What course of action should i take now.
Please suggest ....
