i had a hsbc credit card which expired in oct 2004. they charged me annual renewal fees of rs. 2000 in september itself. but i never got the new card.
the rs. 2500 renewal fees was never waived even though i did recieve a email from their customer care department "Quote"Dear Capt Dilip

We regret to inform the card account has been closed due to the non delivery of the renewed card
Please call the Phone banking for the reinstatement of the card to issue new card.The statements from October 2004 has been sent to the your mailing address

i have since not paid that renewal fees and nor have i been using hsbc card. ( i dont have one by the way) this rs. 2000 has now grown to rs. 70000 and recently as a few days back i get a call from hsbc saying my credit card dues have not been paid. GOD SAVE ME. over the years i have explained this situation to about 50 of their collection agents and even then they are not closing my account
