Dear Sir/ Madam,

This is with regards to my ongoing follow up for my pf which has caused me untold mental stress plus is an indication of a really poor govt. process and a clear indication of red tape and corruption.

I resigned from my last organisation (An electronic media MNC) in april 2010. The pf money was duly credited on july 14 2010 via electronic transfer. However due to a mispelling of my name (by the pf office) the transaction was voided.

From that time till present i have made several attempts to recover my money. As I am not working present I do need it. And also I believe that if people like myself who are able to communicate and have the energy to do so must do their bit to create awareness about issues like this.

As other older people with less of an ability to communicate who may also really be in need of the money would benefit from this.

On the 14th of august 2010 the pf consultant (Reliable consultants )from my ex employer submitted a letter on my behalf stating that there had been a mistake with my name spelling and requesting swift correction and process to the regional pf office head (Kandivali branch). We also submitted requisite verification proof attested by my former employer. Got an acknowledgement of the same.

Subsequently I have requested at least 5-6 people who deal with pf matters to check on the status and see whether any progress has been made.

These people have duly visited the pf office and each one of them has returned with a colourful excuse.

Some of the stories being offered so far as as follows:

a) Since this is the first time an electronic transaction has gone wrong no one is aware of the correction process!

b) The requisite signatory has gone on 2 months leave and hence you wont get your money for 2 months.

c) The process is being automated and so nothing is being processed for the next 2 months.

d) The most recent excuse is that the dept is being renovated ! And wont reopen till the 2nd week of november 2010.

e) When I followed up with the HR rep of my ex employer she told me they were going to visit the pf office with sweets (read bribes) next week in order to try and sort this issue out.

My pf account no is : MH/ 41651/3153

Whenever I speak to people about this most of them shrug their shoulders and say this is India its to be expected, these people want to be bribed. Little wonder then that we are left with mud on our face when widespread corruption becomes evident at a global event like the CWG .

I strongly believe that each and everyone of us should take a stand against it. Please also refer to the following link which indicates an article published on the same issue in the Mid day (Mumbai edition).

PF officials, please run a spell check

Would appreciate it if you could kindly look into the matter and revert. Additionally perhaps if more awareness was created about this forum perhaps more people could come forward with their issues also.

Best

Kimberley
