I am Vinay Prakash. I had purchased a DELL INSPIRON 14R from Dell directly delivered to me in delhi. The product was delivered to me in the last week of month of june10. The system has a partition mentioning "microsoft office- click to open". This occupis nearly 10GB of disc space and is totally inaccessible. On bringing out the mtter to Dell, coustumer care there was no response and i was told that they need to format the drive and reload the system. Since my data and softwares were already installed i decided to forgo this space of my disc for sometime. Later often the system often used to hang up . On compalaint i was told there is a problem with the operating system, but no response from them . This clearly indicates the poor quality control by Dell.
Later with just around 2 months of completely fair use suddenly the AC adapter to the laptop stopped functioning. On complaint the adapter was replaced after around a week time. However just after 3 days of receipt of the adapter the systemn suddenly stopped working. Wherein the power button stopped functioning and the system could not be started up even with the battery removed, and plugged in to power (as suggested by the tecnical support . It was a clear indication of the mother board malfunction. The complaint towards the same was lodged with Dell vide complaint number5381525 dated 11 Sep 10. Since i was travelling to Delhi i was told to go to the service centre at Delhi and get the mother Board replaced . I was told by the supervisor that they would do the necessary tie for the part to be delivered to the service centre and repair within a day or two. After my reaching to Delhi there was no confirmation in given to me in this regard. When i approached the service centre i was told they dont have any such information and they require minimum of seven working days to rectify the fault. Since so much of time was not available with me at delhi , I requeted for the needful at Ranchi(my hometown) on 20 Sep 10. I was given the confirmation that the technical support will be reaching me on 24Sep 10 and if not definatly by 27 Sep 10. No support arrived or any intimation was received till 27 Sep10. However on 28 Sep10 , I was called up to inform that the support will be arriving on 29th Sep now. There was no intimation even on 29th . On my call to Dell customer care i was told that since the mother board is not available it has been shipped from abroad and will take time as they dont dispatch single piece. Upon further enquiring it was revealed that that demand had been raised only on 17Sep10. The period of 11 to 17th sep there was no progress. This is a clear indication of the poor quality control by the DELL on its products and wherein the parts a mother borad start crashing just after 2-3 months. The reliability of the products is highly questionable. Above all the post sales service which Dell had managed to hype up and proclaim is clearly a farse
