The Haryana government has decided to set up hi-tech bus stations at important places in the state.

A transport spokesman said Saturday that the new stations would have an ultra-modern look - complete with computerised operations, closed-circuit TV, computerised entry and exit systems, air-conditioned and non-AC waiting lounges, hotels, lockers and cloak rooms, digital display boards, cyber cafés, touch-screen counters for booking, multi-level car parking and other facilities.

The department has already sought bids from private sector entrepreneurs and consultants to establish the stations.

During the first phase, stations would be established on busy highways like National Highway No. 1 (G.T. Road). The proposed bus terminals would be at Karnal, Gurgaon, Pipli, Kundli, Manesar, Palwal and Panchkula.

The spokesman said the new set-up would have the best of facilities for travellers - ranging from eating, shopping and staying.

Sufficient space would be provided for shopping arcades, he added.
