Indian Oil Corporation (IndianOil) petrol pumps across the country will now also sell fruit-based products of a Himachal Pradesh state-run company.
The Himachal Pradesh Horticulure Produce & Marketing Corporation (HPMC) and IndianOil signed a deal according to which HPMC products, including apple juices, jams and jellies will be sold at petrol stations, said state Horticulture Minister Singhi Ram here.
"In the first phase, 25 of the proposed 98 petrol stations will soon start selling horticulture products of HPMC," Ram said.
"The contractors running these (HPMC) outlets will get a commission of around a quarter (25 percent) while five percent will go to IndianOil for using their space," he said.
"We're also tying up with Hindustan Petroleum (HP) and other oil companies for similar arrangements at their outlets," he added.
Officials are hoping once this scheme picks up it could raise the revenue of the near-sick HPMC by around 20 percent over the next few years.
Only petrol pumps on busy national highways have been chosen to sell the HPMC products to ensure brisk sales.
