I recently purchased a mobile phone and found that after 10-15 minutes of conversation it is causing pain in the ears. I used to get very hot. Many Indian companies are selling cheap Chinese phones with there own name(eg spice, max, micromax, zen). However, no body know if these phones are safe to be used. In the U.S. one can easily find if a particular handset model is meeting the minimum radiation requirement. In India i am not aware if any such thing is possible. If it is possible then how can we measure the amount of radiation emerging from a particular phone and what is minimum level of radiation that is being allowed in India.

Following is information about radiation from mobile phones:

According to the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association, specific absorption rate, or SAR, is "a way of measuring the quantity of radio frequency (RF) energy that is absorbed by the body." For a phone to pass FCC certification and be sold in the United States, its maximum SAR level must be less than 1.6 watts per kilogram. In Europe, the level is capped at 2 watts per kilogram while Canada allows a maximum of 1.6 watts per kilogram. The SAR level listed in our charts represents the highest SAR level measured with the phone next to the ear as tested by the FCC.

My question

Is there any govt body in india to mentioning the amount of RF emitted by a particular model of mobile phone. Is there a way to also check the same?
