Shopping with CROMA a feeling of being cheated
I would like to bring to your notice and share with other members two instances
of cheating by the electronic chain store CROMA. As is well known, all goods
sold by CROMA have a special CROMA price, which is 10% to 25% less than
the MRP and this is the USP of these stores.
On 20 July 2008, I had purchased an Acer Aspire laptop from the CROMA store at
Vashi (City Centre Mall) at a CROMA listed price of Rs 29500/=. Apart from
the features, I was attracted by the low price as I was given to understand that
I was enjoying a saving of Rs 18500/=. This means that the MRP was Rs 48000/=.
However, on making enquiries later from a number of other dealers (like NEXT,
Vijay Sales and some shops on Lamington Road), I discovered that the MRP was in
the region of only Rs 31000/= to 33000/=; which is considerably less than the
MRP quoted by CROMA. This is gross misrepresentation with the intention to
    mislead the customer.
At the same time, I had also purchased an optical mouse (Compact 500) from the
same store at a CROMA listed price of Rs 679/=. However, when I unpacked
the item at home, I observed that the MRP printed on the sticker at the back was
only Rs 583/=. So I had actually paid Rs 96/= more than the MRP. I contacted the
store by telephone and they agreed to refund the amount that was overcharged.
When I visited the store a few days later, to collect the refund, I was only
given the difference (96) between the MRP(583) and the price I paid (679) and
not the discounted price of around Rs 500/=. (Incidentally during my second
visit, I found that the new stock of the item had a printed MRP of Rs 710/=).
As all purchases are governed by the principle, LET THE BUYER BEWARE, I
have no cause to file a consumer complaint, but I must say that I feel cheated
particularly since the store is operated by the TATAs, whose integrity and
honesty I have always had the highest regard for. Ironically, this chain of
stores does not have a customer relations official with whom one can take up
    such matters.
So please be warned when shopping at these stores that offer huge discounts
there is bound to be a catch. Be sure to check the MRP.
    Regards,
    CH Gomes.

Default Cheated with CROMA brand laptop

the first CROMA laptop did not work from day 1. So Croma staff had to give me a free replacement (after a hectic follow up). i thank them for the same. But the new laptop also malfunctioned right from day 1. It did not start - all in front of the store personnel. Croma claims to have a Blue tooth installed in these laptops - which is incorrect as there is no blue tooth device. I have lost my important email data while doing a changeover from one laptop to other. They offered me a replacement ACER laptop - but can you believe this - that laptop DID NOT START. And since they had only one piece they asked me to return back in a day or two. Already they wasted my 4 hours and than they want me to go back!!!! Please beware in shopping from CROMA. Try buying only good brands and see the price tag properly, not to get lured by false discount claims.

Thumbs down Bad Post Sales Attitude of the Croma Staff

I recently purchased a Print Scan Copy Fax from Croma at Mount Road, Chennai. They were supposed to send a rep to install it the next day which never happened. However since I had already installed it on my own, I did not bother about it. I again went and bought a 42" Full HD LCD from Croma at Anna Nagar, Chennai. The staff including the Store Manager were overtly courteous and spent alomost one hour with me including baby-sitting for my kid so that I could concentrate on choosing the TV. But it was only till I bought the item. The next day I kept calling the Centre about the delivery and installation. They couldn't care less. The entire day, they kept making false promises of installation. When I wanted to speak to the Store Manager, they would not put me through to him (I suppose they think he is too big to speak to a customer). I was told six times over six hours that he would call back in five minutes which never happened. Finally after a lot of heated exchanges, the TV was delivered in the evening - without the original packing (wrapped in a sheet of bubble paper!), full of dust all over, the wall and stand mounting screws were missing and without remote batteries! Installation, which was to be done by the Philips company reps, was not even tied up. Even a street corner grey market dealer would have made the deal more presentable. It's a shame when big stores like this take their customers for granted and no one from the huge staff bothers to check the condition of the item before delivery. I am not complaing about the lack of follow-up on their part - They are light years away from it!

Angry Croma- Pathetic After Sale Service and no commitment

    Date - 26th October

I purchased a Blue Star Window AC through CROMA Malad, on 21st October invoice number SLF02A002080035847, I was comitted the same will be delivered by 23 and installed the same day or max on 24th. Today is 26th and the AC is still not installed.. I received a call from Blue Star on 24 morning for visiting for Demo, (how come they do a demo with even installing the AC). I have been calling the support numbers and followingup for the installation since 24th but the only Answer I get is "we will check and revert".... The support executive are not at all responsive It been 5-6 days after making the purchasing the AC and still waiting for installation and have not yet received any information from them even after registering complaints and constant follow ups... Even I like others never expected such a response .. Personally, I would not recommed anyone to purchase a product through CROMA, or even trust any of thier commitments... I am sure they dont keep any ....
