Angry Airtel Broadband- No Refund on Airtel Broadband Connection Deposit

We ( Mohammed Imran [ Mobile # 9952040427 ] and sathish Kumar N M [ Mobile # 9994666083 ] are residents of a flat in Medavakkam, Chennai for the past three years.

Six months ago, in interest of subscribing a broadband service from Airtel, We contacted Mr. Rahman ( Mobile # 9940967881), a sales executive from Airtel Ltd, T.Nagar Branch, Chennai . Upon conducting initial connection feasibility check in our area along with Mr. Muthu Karuppan , (Manager of Mr. Rahman) on 20th March, 2010, they agreed to provide service. Out of the offers explained by them, We opted for the " ADVANCE RENTAL " scheme ( Scheme Code: 3011 ) and they collected Rs. 4500 /- towards advance rental for 6 months which includes zero installation charge. Bill is made on the name "Imran".

On the payment, We provided with subscibers enrollment form towards the payment and was informed that connection and activation would be done within a week.

After waiting for one week, We found that no action was taken from them to provide the connection. On continuous followups and calls for next few days after that , We have been told by Mr. Rahman that it is impossible for Airtel providing connection, since they have to dig the road to pull the cable to my home from other side of the road which costs more for them and denied to provide service as promised.

We were SHOCKED to hear this, as he along with his manager personally came to my home for investigation and confirmed the feasibility of connection earlier. After that only we paid the amount too.

Since We had no other way, We accepted for money refund. After some urge of returning money, we received Rs 3000/- on 06th April, 2010 on agreement to the fact that the remaining sum of Rs 1500/- would be returned back to us on another one week of time.

Again as usual, there was no updates from Mr. Rahman, and in order to get the remaining money, we did frequent followups with him. And most of the time our call was not picked/answered by him. Even we contacted Customer care, there also no proper response. Days started to elapse without answer.

All of a sudden, one day, Mr. Rahman came back to us saying that " Airtel as corporate should not want to discourage the customers. So we are ready to provide connection to you which helps us to get further more connections from your area " and he asked me whether still we would like to go for connection. He promised this time will be sure of immediate and no delay. So we accepted to this offer by putting up a deadline of 07th May, 2010 for him to provide connection and if he fails to provide it in the stipulated time, he should repay the outstanding Rs.1500/- to us on the deadline date.

Thats all, Mr. Rahman on behalf of Airtel, neither provided connection till now and nor refunded remaining amount.

Whenever, We call him to get the status, he never picks up the call and even if he picks up, he replies irresponsibly saying that he is out of office and can tell me the status only after checking in the system.

We were totally disappointed and found completely cheated.

We called Airtel Broadband customer care. They responded like that our bill number is not found in System. What a great formalities they are following actually. If we ask a broadband connection, they will come and get us signed and will need to pay the amount instantly. The bill provided by the office person with Airtel offical connection slip with number, will be a waste paper if the respective person hasn't take it to his office and file. Here comes the great "U" turn, company as well respective persons will not be responsible for money. Great !!! Isn't like cheating of money in a descent way. So anyone with Airtel connection slip can get money from connection seekers and give slip and ran away. no body will responsible of it. What kind of policy is this ?

We had lodged complaints in consumercomplaints.in

    Nothing worked out.

We are called for the complaint on 26-05-2010 by Mr. Kuldeep ( Mobile # 9717894317 ) one of Airtel customer service associate from Delhi circle and asked us to tell the concern. later he asked us to write this all in a mail and send as follows:

    To: net@airtel.in
    From: Imran
    Date: 05/28/2010 05:35PM

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>> NO REPLY.

Again we send a mail on reminder note.

    From: Imran
    To: net@airtel.in
    Date: 05/31/2010 12:57 PM

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>> NO REPLY as usual

For this, they said a comment like complaint resolved. Calling to hear for grievance will set the problem to RESOLVED means, i personally questioning why still huge loads of consumer complaints is in hearing.
We had replied for it, but no reply for that too.

We called many times to Airtel Broadband customer care. Luckily one of the call results for the escalation from the top management. From Tnagar branch they called us, we were so irritated because i had invested like 2 months two hear for our own paid money. They said all childish stories like we removed that guy from our office, he has misused the amount without our knowledge.

How can i accept these all when the mistake is with them and make us to run here and there. Even we felt we are made us to beg for our money to get pay back. I asked for compensation. ( really i dont eager to get this compensation but want to make them to feel for it ). Anyway talk to your higher official and call me. I (Sathish) also cannot accept without my friend's decision, so i ask them to call tomorrow. But that tomorrow never came. so long they haven't called back me.

We really got tired and fed up with following up with these guys for obtaining a broadband connection. After this much struggle, I stand here as loser spending my money, time and peace.

Can you please understand the plea of this suffered customer and would try to arrange me for necessary compensation.

Attached the Subscriber's enrollment form for the reference.
