    Default Penalty for eticket cancellation

    Dear Sir,

Please find attached an email sent you a few days back with regards to penalty charged by MMT(Make My Trip.com). I have received an email and clarification from ICICI Bank with regards to refund of Rs.8,463. They resolved the issue of refund of Rs.8,463.

I have received an email from MMT and they clarified that the charges are levied by Singapore Airlines, therefore they cannot do anything on refund of Rs.12,500. I need to bear the cost of 12,500.

I would like to bring your klind attention that this is totally unfair from Singapore Airlines as well MMT.

I have also attached an article published on DNA on 12th August 2008 on Pag no.5 on same kind of issue, but in my case full fault is from MMT.

    Kindly give me justice.

    Thank you.

    Dear Sir,

I have booked a ticket from Make My Trip.com (MMT) in the month of June 2010 on my wife’s name. I had a business trip to Singapore; I thought I will go with my wife.

I have opened the web page of MMT, and selected Kingfisher airline ticket, because it will save my one day accommodation charges and proceeded for payment. I was surprised when I got the ticket, it was in Singapore Airlines.

There was no time for me to book another ticket because there was not enough time for to do the other formalities, then I decided to cancel the ticket. When I canceled the ticket, I was informed that there will be a deduction of 12,500 rupees from my ticket and there will be a refund of only 8,463 out of 20,963.

I have lodged a complaint with MMT as well my banker ICICI Bank on this issue. ICICI bank agreed to reverse the charge for few weeks to do an enquiry on the same. MMT has also promised to do an enquiry on this case.

I have sent enough email to both ICICI Bank and MMT, but a fortnight back ICICI Bank has charged again that amount to my credit card account. They have not yet returned the refund.

I would like to bring your kind reference that there was a system error at MMT, but they are not ready to agree. I cannot prove from my side. This is unfair to deduct penalty from a passenger for MMT’s mistake.

I have attached some of the emails circulated to ICICI bank, MMT and Singapore airlines on this subject along with an article printed on DNA Mumbai dated 12th August 2010.

Hope I will get justice from you and you will resolve this issue at the earliest and help me to get entire amount refund from MMT.

    Thank you.

    Dear Ravichandra Acharya,

With reference to your post, kindly note that on checking on your booking history and activity on our website, our records show that you selected Singapore Airlines and not Kingfisher Airlines as stated by you.

Kindly note, we have already sent you a copy of the weblog for your reference.

    Regards,

    Dear Sir,

I do ebooking regularly. I never did such mistakes. You can check with ICICI bank for any such action by me in the past. How you will justify that there is no error in your software? We will never come to know about error in your system.

If it is my fault, still is it justifiable to charge 12,500 rupees for cancellation of a ticket?? Please read the recent paper article on DNA as well as circular issued by the DGCA.

If you are deducting Rs.12,500 out of 20,963, no one will accept this.

I have booked this ticket through MMT and through SIngapore airlines. This is your responsibility to give the full refund.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

    Regards

Thumbs down Penalty Charged by Make My Trip / Singapore Airlines for Ticket cancellation.

MMT has also promised to do an enquiry on this case. I have not received any justice from them. MMT is claiming they are right, wihtout giving any evidence.

I would like to bring your kind reference that there was a system error at MMT, but they are not ready to agree. I cannot prove from my side. This is unfair to deduct penalty from a passenger for MMT’s mistake.
