Afghanistan plans to start bus services to several Pakistani cities, including Peshawar and Quetta, Online news agency reports.

Both countries have decided in principle to start bus services connecting Peshawer to Jalalabad and Kandahar to Quetta, but a formal announcement will be made when their Joint Economic Commission meets in the third week of July.

The decision to start the services by the end of the current year was made during the recent visit of Afghan Transport Minister Enayatullah Qasemi to Pakistan.

In this regard, discussions on the bus services will be part of the agenda for the Joint Economic Commission's meeting.

The responsibility for bus operations will be given to Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC).

Additional bus terminals will be established in Peshawar and Quetta for the services. Sources said optimum security measures would be taken for the safety of passengers.
