The Management and Unions of APSRTC claim that it is one of the best managed Public Transport organisation in the country catering the needs of more than 8 Crores Population of Andhra Pradesh. Also we learn through media that APSRTC , several times bagged the National Awards for the fuel economy , best revenue and Best Management among all the Road Transport Organisations of the Country.

I submit that , inspite of all the above facts, one major direction which is lost in the APSRTC Management i.,e disciplining the Drivers of the APSRTC buses. It is not only myself, but majority of the Public on the Roads express their feelings about the driving discipline of the APSRTC drivers. Earlier Public used to fear about the Lorry drivers and Auto Drivers, but now are , scared of the RTC drivers in the state . Leaving a few respected and disciplined Seniors of the Driving community, majority are causing daily agony to the Public , especially driving two wheelers and small cars . The recklessness and careless attitude with which the RTC drivers lead the busses is a major concern to the majority of the Commuters on Hyderabad Roads. How they go and what direction they take , is known only to the GOD and not even to the Traffic Police.

Every country has certain driving discipline i.e, tracks are specified as speed, slow. Four wheelers like Busses, Lorries , small cars etc are categorised and alloacted specific tracks to ride on the roads . Though our roads do not have such high end regulations/ Culture , but we do have the speed track and slow track with some basic principle of driving . Right side is defined for the busess and Heavy vehicles and left side is defined for slow movement and small vehicles. But none of the Drivers of RTC buses follow the basic guidelines of Traffic regulations and cause sleeplessness to the Traffic police and the commuters .Even a recent incident at Banjara Hills causing death to the Police officer on duty did not open the minds of the Regulatory authorities of the RTA and RTC to control the errant staff of the RTC. I do regularly observe the RTC bussess movement , how they chase the small vehicles on the Roads .

Reasons for such attitude and approach of the Drivers must be evaluated and anlysed and send them for Counselling if they do not change their attitude. Still if they do not change their approach, such Drivers should be eliminated from the mainstream of the APS RTC , at least considering the safety of innocent Citizens of the State/ Nation.

If the reputed organisations like APSRTC do not follow the basic principles of safety , discipline and caution, who else can set the good example to rest of the Population of the Driving community.
