Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh will visit Toronto Wednesday to participate in a 'Made in Punjab' show and scout for business opportunities, a government official here said.

The chief minister, who inaugurated the Air India flight to Toronto from the Sikh holy city of Amritsar Monday, will be accompanied by a six-member delegation of ministers and top officials.

The delegation will be in Canada for a week during which the 'Made in Punjab' show will be inaugurated Friday. It will also explore opportunities for small-scale industries and biotechnology units for technology transfer, partnership and marketing network in Canada.

Entrepreneurs from Punjab will showcase their products and services at an international arena for the first time to attract global business, a Punjab government spokesman said here Tuesday.

Small-scale entrepreneurs had increased their exports from Rs.40 billion to over Rs.110 billion in the last three years.

Amarinder Singh would ink a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in agricultural biotechnology between Canada's Saskatchewan province and Punjab, the spokesperson said.

He would also address a business forum in Vancouver, home to a sizeable Punjabi population.

Ministers Pratap Singh Bajwa, Avtar Henry, Jagmohan Singh Kang and Surinder Singla will accompany the chief minister.
