Dear SONY,
I bought KLV-263S400A on 8th Dec 2008. It stopped working on 23rd Jul 2010 which is near to 1year and 6 months from the date of purchase.
I registered complaint No. 5669099 at SONY on 24th Jul 2010. The SONY engineer carried out inspection and told that LCD board needs a replacement, costs about Rs. 8000/- approx. (1/3rd of the TV cost, it is totally ridiculous).
This is really shocking and made me think how can costly branded SONY product stopped working just after the warranty period is over.
Yesterday I got call from SONY Mathura office and they mentioned that it can be replaced Rs. 2000/- (with discount). When I asked for warranty for new LCD, then they say 1 - 2 months. This too is
surprising that because after replacement, there is no ownership of the product.
Normally, LCD last for approx. 600000 hours whereas our usage will not be more than 4746 hours (8 hours * 592 days). Note that this is on the higher side too.
This seems to be faulty product as the same problem has been faced by another person. In this case, SONY replaced the faulty LCD panel without any extra cost.
They think that the warranty is valid for 1 year and after that SONY can ESCAPE? I think that faulty TV should be replaced as SONY has discontinued the product.
I am regretting my decision for purchasing costly SONY LCD TV. Is this SONY offering to the customers?
I request to SONY India to look into this matter, waiting for your favor.
