Had sent a consignment by AFL on 26.5.2010 from Mumbai to Bhopal. The consignment has not been sent to Bhopal and is still lying in Mumbai.
In the morning the customer service says it is out for delivery, at about 1.00 pm they say the shipment was offloaded as there was no space for the consignment.
The other couriers are delivering the shipment only AFL is not getting space. When i ask it to be returned i am told that the consignment is in a container and cannot be given back.
If i had sent it by train it would have got delivered, but the incompetent service guys of AFL are not able to move a consignment where there are 3 flights daily going to Bhopal.
similar thing with another consignment for Gurgaon containing Mangoes (Perishable) sent on 26.5.2010. Shipment not delivered on 27.5.2010 as promised. The Excuse: delay caused due to Air-India strike.
The customer service is very adept at giving excuses but is pathetically incompetent when providing service.
1. They don't update their tracking database,
2. Customer service has no knowledge of what is happening.
3. Response time - no constraints - will get back to you at their convenience.
This is probably the reason that DHL broke their ties with AFL as,
1. They are incompetent,
2. probably not paying the airlines their dues
3. probably the staff is also not getting paid - i.e why they are not even doing their duties properly.
They charge through the roof, probably the costliest courier after Bluedart but the least reliable.
USE ONLY IF SENDING UNIMPORTANT CONSIGNMENTS WHICH CAN BE DELIVERED AT THEIR CONVENIENCE.
