I want to
share with the group a bitter experience that I have had with an
established newspaper of the country that has arrived in Mumbai with
a bang. In their aggressive promotion campaign last year, they
offered a year's subscription of the paper for an effective price of
Rs.348 (after taking into account the refund of Rs.101 promised
within 7 working days after realisation of the cheque for
subscription). Being enticed by the offer, I entered a subscription
for the paper last September. Even though they had promised that
the 'gift' amount of Rs.101 will be electronically transferred, no
such thing had happened. When the matter was taken up with them,
they pleaded that there was a problem with electronic credit and
that a cheque for the amount would be issued. It has been almost 6
months now and yet the amount has not been received by one means or
another and no word of apology too.
