I was having some problems in the printing quality from my "in warranty" Canon Colour Laser printer which I purchased at the time for INR 57,500. The printing was unclear and the paper would get jammed frequently. I contacted Canon and after repeated "visits" ranging from November 21st to December 7th 2009 (which by the way happened after calling them multiple times), our printer was finally taken in by them on the 7th of December, 2009. It's been 6 weeks since then and they are still unable to return my printer to me because they are unable to solve the problem. In this period:
1) I did not receive a single phone call from them as to what the problem was.
2) After repeated calls to them, which were met by the response that they were working on it, one fine day I found out that they sent my printer off to Delhi because they couldn't solve the problem without so much as a courtesy call to let me know.
3) Turns out their Delhi staff is equally inept and inefficient because the printer has been with them for over 2 weeks, that I know of, god alone knows how long they've had it, they still do not know when I will get my printer back.

My questions are these:
1) As a consumer having an in-warranty product, is Canon not responsible for providing me with timely service?
2) If they cannot solve the problem are they not liable to give me a replacement?
3) What happens if in this period my warranty expires? Will I have to pay for repairs?

I would seriously be interested in anyone who can guide me on how to approach the consumer court officially and drag Canon to court. I am sick of Multinational companies giving sub standard products in India and pathetic levels of service and would like to set an example out of Canon.

Please feel free to contact me.
