Default reduction in weight of packing biscuits

in the recent past fmcg companies like britannia/hll has started
packing lower than standard pack. for examble goodday 100 gr has
changed to 90g without reduction in price. like wise tiger 75 gr has
become 67gr, mariegold 200gr has become 180 gr. like wise they are
    reduceing as they wish.
here what i would know is whether the government has allowed such
packing, if so giving such liberty will lead to cheating/confuseing
the consumer, they will take consumer to ride.

my suggestion is this should be stopped with immediate effect by the
central government by suitable order, otherwise this will lead to bad
    precident.

    Good observation.

However according to my opinion, its not cheating as
long as Price & wt. is mentioned.

It is upto us the consumer to read the packing and
then buy, which hardly anybody does.

"ek glucose dena, kitne rupya ?" is the standard line
at the retail counter. Nobody asks " ek glucose
    dikhana ? kitna vajan ? kitne rupyein ? "

Till the consumer does not get aware, things like this
    is bound to happen.

    thanks for your coments,
see it took very hard time to implement standard weights for packing during
emergency. now the government let it loose. every company puts huge
advertisement for small addition to the product. but this kind of activity is
not brought to the consumers. you cannot expect a layman to see the weight and
buy. there is no option to the consumer except to buy unknowingly or not to buy.
    thankyou

    Dear Sir,

Nothing unusual in it. If the weight as mentioned in the biscuit packet matches the actual weight how can we call that unfair. It is for the buyer to decide whether they wish to pay that price for 60 gms, 70 gms or 100 gms etc. The purpose why the weight etc. is mentioned on the packet is to enable the customers to know what they are buying. It's for the customer to read and take a call whether they wish to buy or not.

    Thats what I also mentioned.

The gentleman is confused between cheating and rising cost of the product. The present problem he pointed
out falls in the later and does not surmount to cheating.

It is such frivolous issues that the companies cite as example when they are really faced with cases of
    cheating.

We must understand carefully and then raise points.

I have been regularly charged extra for buying through Credit Card
espeically for consumer electronic goods. Even while buying Refriegrators,
Laptops. The Seller charges 2% extra for CC transaction.

    Please state is this legal?

    Regards
