I had couriered a parcel worth Rs. 5000 (+ shipping amt Rs.280) from Hyderabad to Mumbai (Vashi) on 28th February, 2009. The consignment number given was H57249030. This courier never reached its destination till date.

After several enquiries, DTDC Hyderabad as well as Mumbai office have declared it to be lost. Moreover, Hyderabad, Begumpet office informed that only 70% of the total value can be reimbursed. Can I know why can't we receive a 100% of the total amount including the shipping charges back when the fault is completely on their end?

We are also suspecting that since it was a heavy parcel (weighing around 2.5 kg to 3 kg) carrying readymade garments, it can be an instance of theft. We had to lodge the complaint in the Mumbai customer care office since the given number to the Hyderabad customer care was an invalid number. Our complain number received from the Mumbai office is 54542.
