My passpost had expired and since there was address change, I was recommended to
apply for a new passport. I did so, and during the police verification I was
very straight.

I told the cops I will not give any "fees" that does not give me a proper
receipt. If they don't want to do their duty, I'll take the matter with
higher-ups. The guy grumbled, but did his job!

Unless educated people like us don't stop paying petty bribes, we will not be
able to curb the corrpution. And we are as much responsible for this as much as
they who demand bribes.

I was fresh out of college, when I went to a police
station for the first time for Passport verification. I was asked Rs.500 as
chai-pani. When I declined, I was made to appear in front of his senior. I still
refused to pay for it.

They made sure I did not get my passport for 6 months. But I was happy when I
received it. I had done everthing legally and save my dad 500 bucks.

That was six years ago and I did not have much info or support about such
matters. But I agree completely with you.... we must stop promoting corruption.

My name is Appish Jain and i had applied for Passport on 4th Aug 08 from my native city, Saharanpur.Reference File number is GZBA03065608.

My application was kept on hold because of certain reasons which was not fulfilled till June 09. This delay was from my side only. Due to some personal problems i could not managed to furnish the details as required.

Basis on that File number and along with all the required documents i applied for passport again in June 09 and this time through Delhi Agent. Pls find below his contact details.

He asked me for Rs.3500/- which was then paid to him by Cheque and the same was cleared on 10 July 09.
Cheque number - 944126 (HDFC Bank).

He confirmed me that within a month i would get my Passport. Now almost 2 months have been passed and nothing is done. I have been continuously following up with this agent since last one month and in reply he is telling me your passport is ready and will get despatched in a day or two.

Moreover last week he messaged me the Fake registry number and said that after 2days your passport would gets despatched reference to this registry number. Pls find below the message which i received from him.

For you information till date no Police verification has done at my address and without this how cum Passport authorities issued my passport? This simply means he is making fool of me. Yestardy when i was on the way to his office to meet him he said that this week for final verification Police will come and after 1 week of verification my Passport gets issued to me. When previously no verifation was done then how come this final verificatin comes into the picture..

I am having a very bad experiance with this agent. On daily basis i used to call him at least 20 times but he never used to pick my phone. Hardly he relpy me. This is not the way of treating to the customers.

Would request you to kinldy help me out in solving my problem.

Hello,

I am a working professional now, i had applied my passport when i was fresh graduate and was preparing myself for higher studies. I was one fortunate who didnt pay any single penny to the officer. He didnt demand either during his visit of official paper work for verification. I was a bit afraid regarding the whole fact whether i will get my passport or not, In this dilemma i asked the officer if my verification result is clean or i should do something more. He said i am a educated and everything is present which is needed.

We should also understand the fact that we should also make the documentation perfectly in order to give a hesitant feeling for officers incharge to demand bribe.

There is denying the fact that i am facing problems for my mother's and brother's passport.
