I wanted to transfer my tata sky plus digicomp (set top box) to my father so that he can subscribe. However, tata sky has decided that wef 30 dec 2010, digicomps are 'not transferable'.

I have pointed out to them that since the digicomp has been purchased by me (and not leased or given free), they have no legal authority over who I decide to give (or sell) that digicomp to, but they are adamant in refusing to shift it.

In other words, they are forcing people to buy set top boxes from them. The only way one can redeem some value from the digicomp is by exchanging it for other models at artificially low prices. For example, they are offering a 300/- Rupee cash back for the old Digicomp (which cost me 4600/-) And 1000/- Cask back for this one, which cost me 8500/- Or so. Those who decide to opt out of Tata sky are left holding on to a useless piece of electronic equipment which they cannot dispose off.

There is no mention of an ombudsman on their website, nor is their corporate address given on the site. Isn't that mandatory for company websites to mention their physical address? I got this address from another website.

I would like to see this unilateral decision reversed. Please tell me if that is possible.
