As per Traffic Police 10% of the parking is to be reserved for Visitor's car parking. However, all societies conveniently ignore this rule and put boards not permitting visitor car parking.
After our raising the issue repeatedly in BMC Apex committee meeting they agreed to give a public notice. But we found that they gave this in some obscure newspapers so that this should be noticeable to larger public.
It is necessary that citizens should complaint to the police against societies putting such boards. It is also essential that UD Rules for commercial buildings must allow at least 30-40% space for parking of
visitor's cars.
Other alternative for commercial areas is no-car zone, where you park outside the zone and walk the last 500-600 metres, as proposed in New Urban Transport Policy under finalisation.
