My Name is Sunil ahuja & number (9810874487).Pleading to COnsumer Court to save against Bad Business Practice.I spoke with Alka (IBM Relationship) from Airtel around Nov 9th about international roaming facility since i had an official visit planned on Nov 11th to go to US. She asked me to write to them. I wrote to them & didn't get any revert and details about the charges.Untill Nov 11th 7 PM, Since there was no intimation sent to me that International roaming is activatedso on my way to Airport, I called up Regular Customer Service complaint number 198 & spoke with customer service they confirmed that it will be activated now without any deposit of Rs 5000.00. and he confirmed that the cal charges will be normal ISD calling charges as we usually see apart from that Rs 150 will be charged for International roaming. I agreed to the same.Anyways, I reached Belgium on my way to Ohio USA & when i switched on my phone , my phone started to show me signals & I tried to call my father at home, the network was extremely poor. Everytine, I called up home, the normal communication which would have taken 2 min took almost 5-6 minutes since the two way communication was not happening clearly. I cursed airtel & other networks everytime. apart from the network, another thing which came to me as a biggest shock & surprise when i reached India back was an SMS which mentioned that my unbilled usage was around Rs 8700.00. I immediately called up Airtel & I was told that this is a known issue & there is something wrong with the system & hence wrong SMS are sent & I should wait untill Nov 27th when my bill gets generated. When my bill got generated, I came to know that whatever calls i had made, costed me as much as Rs 150.00 per minute & hence it was the most overpriced expenses I had to bear. I called up Airtel at least 15 times & everytime, I was given vague responses apart from one statement that such charges are billed by other service provider & they cannot do anything about it.
I called up Airtel on 198 again and told them that I'll not bear such charges untill my issue is resolved.
Airtel Network around my Home is also pathetic, The Signal tower vanishes after a few minutes & if I am on any call, the call gets disconnected. as a result, I have to make many calls. I was told by Airtel that it was confirmed by engineers also & they will do something about the same. Till date nothing has been done.
I called up airtel again & requested disconnection as advised by my friends & then someone called me up & promised that he will send me a 64 bit Sim card & will also get some instruement installed at my home which will correct the replenishing network immediately. Nothing happened again. And about the billign issue, they offered me a discount of Rs 2000 & said, they will check further what can be done. But later they forgot about that again & then on Jan 7th someone called up again & I told him that if you guys cannot read my communication which i had earlier & i have to repeat myself again & also if you cannot get the network issue resolved, I will happily leave Airtel and will try any other service providor. reference SR numbers as as follows.
