Harassment caused to me by HDFC Loan Department & Non-closure of my Vehicle Loan

    Angry Harassment caused to me by HDFC Loan Department & Non-closure of my Vehicle Loan

    I Mr. Santosh Tukaram Mangela Residing at: KW/122, Juhu Ruia Park, Mora Village J.R Mahtre Road, Mangel wadi, Mumbai – 49. wants to lodge a complaint against HDFC loan department for not closing my above mentioned Vehicle loan account even when I have made the full payment to them & also causing me mental harassment by making numerous phone calls to me for no invalid reasons.
    To start with, I had taken a Two wheeler loan from HDFC Sion Branch for a period of 3 years starting from 15th Dec 2006, now during the second year of my loan period i.e. on August 2008, I got a call from HDFC loan recovery dept that one of my installments had bounced & that I will have to pay the same with Interest. I was shocked to get such a call as I always used to maintain sufficient balance in my account. Anyways to confirm the same I went to my bank the following day to see if the same was correct, but here my bank statement showed that the EMI was deducted from my account as per schedule, I thought It would be a mistake from their side & will clarify to them when they next call me.
    Now, after three days I got a call from the recovery department saying that there was an EMI which I have not paid & is pending from my side. Now, as I had already checked & confirmed the record earlier I politely told the person that the EMI was deducted from my account and it is also reflecting in my bank statement, so kindly check the same from your side & as a proof I could show him my updated pass book copy which showed the EMI deducted. Then the person asked me to furnish the details to the loan recovery cell in Sion Branch & once they update my records I would not get calls.
    So, then I went to their Sion Branch and furnished the details of my pass book showing that the EMI deducted from my account but somehow it was not reflecting into their system. The person over there narrated the matter to us & said that they will check the issue from their side & he also asked us to submit the pass book copy which I did. He said hence forth I will not get calls regarding the same. Barely a week must have had passed I again got a call to recovery department about lapse of one EMI in August 2008, then I clearly told the person that there was some issue from their side & that I have already submitted the documents to their Sion Branch the person then disconnected the call.
    After few days every 7 days I use to get calls from them & I use to give the above explanation but all in vain as the calls were still coming. Frustrated, I Again went to Sion for clarification & this time there was someone else to attend when I explained the matter he checked My account and my pass book he found that there was error in their system, again he asked me to furnish a photocopy of the passbook showing the EMI deducted & assured me that he will look into it & I will not get call,.
    Few days after I went to Sion again I started getting calls from them, this time I was furious but did not know what to do I requested them again & again but all efforts in vain. I also went thrice to their Kandivili Branch above Mcdonalds but again it proved to be useless.
    The most frustrating part was that my Father expired on 15th March 2011 & after three days I get a call from them asking to pay the lapsed EMI, This time I was mentally unbalanced but was helpless as being a common man who knows nothing about how tackle the matter & who to approach. Now, is this the customer service that they talk about? And is this the way they treat their customers.. even though I am not at fault.
    Finally, I with help from one of my friend decided to give a last try by visiting their so called main main branch in Kanjurmarg. Same old questions were raised & I explained whatever I was explaining till now. They then asked me for the photocopy of my passbook showing the deducted EMI and addition to this they asked me for a letter from my bank saying that the EMI was deducted from my account, I also asked them is there anything else they need from me which they confirmed they would not require anything. As a last Hope to get out of this mess I completed their formality & submitted the letter from my bank confirming the EMI deducted correctly as well as the photocopy of the passbook.
    To my misery till today on 6th June I still get call from them asking me for the pending EMI, even after doing all the above process. My tenure of loan was successfully completed on 20th November 2009 but till now they are behind me for that pending EMI. They had also sent people to my place to lift my bike, which somehow I manage to convince them.
    Now, they are even threatening me that my name would be black listed if I don’t pay the EMI.
    Tell me now what would be my frustration level now (nobody could even guess). I cannot concentrate in my work. My life has become a misery answering their call & it has caused me mental harassment & as a result I have become short tempered & obviously my family have become victim of this.
