I had an accident with and auto rickshaw in Mulund and he admitted to his fault. I was driving my Bajaj bike. Instead of beating the poor guy up, I asked for his 3rd party insurance and he after a lot of pursuation provided a copy.
I lodged a complaint with Bajaj Allianze General Insurance, from whom the auto-wallah (or auto-owner) had bought the 3rd party insurance. While registering the claim I had given all the details and specifically streed that I wanted to claim for 3rd party insurance.
The claim was registered and I was given a claim number and was told that our team would get in touch with you in 24 hours. However, I had to follow-up with them 3-4 times before I got to correct person. And to my surprise, I learnt that I have to register a case in court to be able to claim under 3rd party insurance.
I have been to other countries and have seen that all you need to claim is the insurance number and at the most survey of your vehicle. Please let me know if this is a requirement in our country.
Also, even in that case, let me know if I can file a complaint agains Bajaj Allianze for harrassment and trouble caused for two days because they did not give correct information in the first place.
