    Default ICICI Lombard Policy: 4065/ICICI-HSP/1061130/00/000

    This is to inform you that my father, Late Swapan Kumar Chatterjee has taken Home Loan: LBBOL00001528013 from ICICI bank. The Loan EMI's were being paid my father regularly until his sudden death on 27 January 2010.

    The loan was covered under ICICI Lombard Policy: 4065/ICICI-HSP/1061130/00/000. Therefore we filed the claim with ICICI Lombard. Later we received a response from them stating that, in the above stated policy father Mr. Swapan Kumar Chatterjee is not insured, instead my mother, Sumita Chatterjee is insured, and hence they will not consider our claim.

    While making the policy (3 years back) ICICI Lombard has wrongly registered my mother, Sumita Chatterjee as insured and not the actual person Swapan Kr. Chatterjee. This is a terrible mistake from ICICI Lombard. However, they are not willing to accept this and not considering our rightful claim. They are unnecessarily harrasing my mother over telephone by rude behaviour of their agents.

    We were surprised to learn this from ICICI Lombard, It is totally impractical because my father was the borrower of the loan and he was paying the EMI's from his salary. He had submitted his employment details while taking the loan. How can ICICI Lombard register my mother as insured and not the actual person my father Swapan Kr. Chatterjee from whose employment salary Loan EMI's were getting paid.

    We have already raised this concern with ICICI Bank but they are simply washing off their hands saying, its matter with ICICI Lombard and they cannot do anything. However, that doesn't stop ICICI Bank from sending letters for payment to my mother.

    I have sent many emails and letters to ICICI Lombard and ICICI Bank but they are not giving any relevant answer. Now we dont know where we can approach further. If anybody can help us on this, I will gratefull them.

    Dear Friend,
    I am a co-consumer. this is just my opinion on the matter.
    Please check the policy documents (that were issued by the company 3 yrs back) to find who is insured and did the policy taker (your father) agreed to it. Also check the documentation requirements of the policy. (like did the policy required PAN of Insured and whose PAN you provided to them, your mother's or father's). If required talk to a good CS or CA or any person who knows commercial laws (who is your friend, do not go in for a costly legal battle so soon).

    ICICI Lombard and ICICI Bank both have taken my late father's personal and employment details. Based on the documents provided to them, the loan was granted and ICICI Lombard Policy was made. But they are denying every fact and dumping it on us and not paying the rightful claim.

    Everyone makes insurance so that the policy can help the family members in case of any unfortunate event.

    Default Stop Payments to ICICI Bank for Loan.

    Do one thing Stop the payments to ICICI bank, as they say that they are not concerned, do not write anything in official. They will revert back automatically. Legal battle is hectic so do not go for it so soon.

    also remember to policy document. if you dont have one ask the company representative to send you one copy so that you can check in whose name the claim is.
    is your mother having a PAN number, Is she a nominee or a guarantor in the home loan agreement. Check It.

    ICICI Lombard. ICICI Prudential are known for denial of payments on wrong basis. you can approach the consumer court in need.
