Dear Sir,
I am an manager of a leading private Indian bank in Mumbai. I am currently living on leave and license accommodation.
Last week I purchased a car with Ichibaan Nissan, Worli, Mumbai.
However for registering my car, the RTO people are demanding exorbitant bribe, as they say that a leave and license agreement and police verification is not sufficient proof of address in Mumbai. A letter from my HR department stating that i reside at my address is also supposedly not valid. Also, any bill which I produce from a private company (eg Vodafone, Reliance Energy electricity) are also not accepted.
They are only accepting MTNL telephone bill. As I am new in mumbai it will take time for me to apply for an MTNl line, install it and then get a bill.
Shockingly, even my Nissan dealer, Ichibaan Nissan is conspiring with them and asking em for Rs. 7,000 as bribe to the RTO officer.
I have decided not to give a single penny as I have a leave and license agreement, HR letter, Electricity bill on my landlord's name, and also MTNL phone installation bill.
Kindly look into this fast as my car is still unregistered.
