Hi,
On 27th October I hired an auto(KA05 B 7058) from my
office on Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore the meter was
faulty and just after a distance of 1km, the meter
reading started jumping from the stipulated 10.00Rs
for 2kms. I brought it to the notice of the driver to
which he started yelling that his meter was correct.
He also further said that I could go ahead and file a
complaint. I called the traffic control 103 to
register a complaint and they gave another number
22942346. There was no response from this number. Now
I know why the auto driver was so fearless even when
he was at fault. There has to be a procedure to book
such drivers and instil fear in their minds.

Does anyone who the correct procedure to file a
complaint against the auto driver? This is not the
first time that such a thing has happened. Seeing the
confidence of the errant driver, I feel not even a
single auto driver has been booked under such charges
based on complaints.

It happens that few arrogant cab drivers charge more from passengers from making their evening Happy.
In such cases..if the traffic assistance number is not working, as in your case you stated...I hope that you must have noted registration number of cab/ auto / taxi. (KA05 B 7058)

You may please contact....DCP traffic of that city or Zone and register a written complaint. He may in his power impose fine on such defaulter. If that doesn't work ..u may and can lodge a complaint against that fellow under CPA. You can make traffic department party as traffic assistance was not available 2 u. But please meet the departmental head for clarification regarding the same.

This forum have many experienced members who can guide you about the same. You may write to Consumer Court Admin at admin@consumercourt.in for the same or any other assistance.
If you have guts to teach lesson to defaulter and to teach lesson to yourself ..you may please go ahead and make the difference.

I do not know whether I am right. I understand a large number of Autos in Bangalore are owned by the Police personnel.

Hundreds of such incidents, as you experienced, happen every day but decent travellers avoid confrontations with rowdies.

Yes. It looks like several police personnel have owned autos and rent them out even in Hyderabad. Several metres are faulty and it is very difficult to get our way. In most cases, we are helpless on account of time constraint as also the nuisance factor. However, I did get through in making my point by insisting that the metre is incorrect. But it is difficult to waste so much time particularly when u r travelling with family or luggage or at odd times. As a matter of policy, I have avoided going by autos except in extreme emergencies. We should also note that the autos vehemently oppose digital metres. If digital metres can be installed taking into the now ever increasing fuel costs, we may get some relief.

A demand should be made that only permit holders should drive the
vehicles & the permit with photograph of the permit holder should be
prominently displayed in the vehicle, easy for the passenger to see.

Below are the numbers. But in case of complaint they will insist you
to come down to police station. Dont worry go without any fear.
Write down complaint on one paper and submit it to the nearest
police station of your convenience. You can also carry complaint
along with you. Take the comlaint number and ask for the status
afterwards. Vigilant people can only make the city more safer and
better place to live. You will have to add 2 in the numbers given
below as its old one. I tried couple of them and its going through.
They are less than courtious but polite enough as per indian
standard. Or you can dial 2333-3333 to get the latest number

have bought one sony digital camera s930 10 mega pixle. which picture clarity is very poor and dull. i have one sony mobile which is having 2 mega pixle camera the picture taken in this phone is having more clarity than my camera.
