Dear Sir,
I had applied for BARCLAYS BANK CREDIT CARD in the month of March 2010 online. One of the representative called me up to confirm my details. She told me that there will be a field verification which will be done and the hard copies of the documents will be submitted. But after a month's time, I received a letter from the bank stating that the application is rejected due to following reason : Bureau Related Credit Policy Guidelines Not Met. From that letter only, I was introduced to a body called CIBIL which keeps a database of the credit history of persons who either hold a Credit Card or have taken some kind of loan.
I have attached the scanned copy of the letter in this message. In that letter it was written that the bank can help me in tracing the CIBIL report by sending a DD of Rs.50 to them which I did. They received the DD and then they were not able to find the CIBIL report for me. After co-ordinating with the Barclays bank for about 4 months, when I called up on their call center numbers : 60004444, 0124-6752222, 022-67242222 they said that we are unable to find your CIBIL report and told me that I was wasting my time calling the bank for to know about the status of the report, it's better to contact CIBIL directly.
After getting such a disgusting response from the bank, I decided to contact the CIBIL directly for my CIR report. I applied for the report in the month of July along with the required charges. Now the problem is that, CIBIL is saying that the address which I have mentioned as my permanent address is not matching the address which is there in their database and are not willing to issue me my report. My permanent address as mentioned in bank account in SBI where I hold a savings account is as follows :
LD 102 A, Old R.D.S.O. Colony, Manak Nagar, Lucknow - 226011, U.P.
I had applied for this credit card when I was in Chennai and as a local correspondence address I gave my relatives address which was :
68 / A, Sahithya Appartments, Panchali Amman Koil Street,
(Near Panchali Temple), Arumbakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Now I just don't understand, as to why my name is listed in CIBIL as I have never had a loan or a credit card before when I had applied in March. CIBIL is also not helping me in getting my CIR report as they say that the address which I have provided does not match the address in their database.
One bank to which I doubt might have provided wrong information is INDUSIND Bank. I had a savings bank account which was stopped in the month of February 2010 as I was not using that bank account.
My Savings account Number of Indusind Bank is : 0019-C62909-001 in Lucknow Branch.
Please help me in this matter.
Can you please help me in finding out the exact problem and getting rid of this dilemma.
Janmejay Rai,
Mumbai
