I am a resident to Delhi and requested a booking through Air India (ecommerce) from Delhi to New York and New York to Delhi.
Why I am forced to Fly from New York (JFK) to Delhi (IGIA) then go to Mumbai first and again come back to Delhi to get deboarded??
Details:-
1. On 7 May 2011, I have purchased Air India E Ticket No 098-2100774383 ( PNR No. Y1HNK, Web Reference AIBE619849) for following Journies:-
(a) From Delhi to New York (JFK) - 9 July 2011
(b) From New York(JFK) to Delhi - 23 July 2011.
2. I was horrified to recieve my E Ticket in which my return journey on 23 July was scheduled first from New York (JFK) to Mumbai and then from Mumbai to Delhi through Flight AI 102 and AI 623 respectively. I am a resident to Delhi and requested booking from Delhi to New York and New York to Delhi and why I must go to Mumbai first and then to Delhi. Interestingly AI 102 flight from JFK first lands to Delhi and then goes to Mumbai.
3. I spoke several times to Air India Helpline and visited Air India City Office twice but without any positive results. I also mailed to ecommerce@airindia.in requesting them to take corrective action followed by two reminders but they have not responded at all
My complaints to Air India which remain unanswered even after two reminders:-

COMPLAIN AGAINST INACTION BY ECOMMERCE DEPT OF AIR INDIA
Dear Sir,
1. Please refer to PNR No. Y1HNK, Web Reference - AIBE619849 and the trailing e-mails given below.
2. On 7 May 2011, I had purchased an E Ticket No. 0982100774383 on line by paying through credit card for the following Journey :-
Onward Journey from Delhi to New York (JFK) on 09 July 2011.
Return Journey from New York (JFK) to Delhi on 23 July 2011.
3. I was quiet surprised to Note that instead of booking me from New York to Delhi directly , I was first booked from New York to Mumbai (AI 102) and then from Mumbai to Delhi (AI 699).
4. I immediately contacted the Air India Helpline on phone who though confirmed that AI 102 first lands to Delhi and then to Mumbai, however expressed their inability to help and suggested me to contact AI City Office. The same evening I contacted City Office who in turn advised me to write mail to ecommerce.
5. Same day I wrote to ecommerce department requesting them to initiate necessary corrective action to book me directly from New York (JFK) to Delhi instead of New York - Mumbai and Mumbai - Delhi.
6. It is evident from the trailing mails that despite three reminders, your ecommerce department has Not responded at all till date and my mails remain unanswered. I am therefore constrained to complain against the ecommerce department firstly for the wrong booking and then not taking any corrective action despite my repeated reminders.
7. You are requested to please take necessary action in the matter and inform me about the action taken.
Thanking you,
Col Satish Kumar Mehta

Dear Sir,
Your response to my trailing mails is still awaited. I even visited your City Office at Safderjung Airport, New Delhi who have expressed their inability to help and suggested to write to ecommerce@airindia,in instead. Even I spoke to Air India phone helpline suggested to contact you
It is Very disappointing note tat the repeated mails to you requesting to address my concerns regarding erroneous booking and correcting the name are invoking No Response. In absense of any response I really don't know as to whom should I approach next.
Looking Forwared to an early resolution of the Issues.
Thanking you

Dear Sir,
1. Further to the trailing mail given below, Booking Reference No. (PNR) - Y1HNK and Web Reference - AIBE619849 .
2. Please Note that while my correct Name as per Passport is Satish Kumar Mehta, whereas the passanger details of your e-ticket reflect my Name as Satish Mehta (i.e. Middle Name is missing). This may create some problem for me at the airport especially in US.

Dear Ecommerce Head,
1. Please refer to the following :-
(a) Booking Reference No. (PNR) - Y1HNK
(b) Web Reference - AIBE619849
2. Today I made the undermentioned bookings online by direct flights and paid a sum of Rs.61525.00 through my Credit Card :-
(a) Onward Journey From Delhi (DEL) to New York (JFK) on 09 July 2011 (AI 101).
(b) Return Journey From New York (JFK) on 23 July 2011 (AI 102).
3. On taking out print out I was terribly surprised to note that You have issued a ticket from New York (JFK) to Mumbai by Flight AI 102 and then from Mumbai to Delhi by Flight AI 623. I immediately called the Air India Helpline to explain that I am hypertensive and had booked for direct Flight from New York to Delhi and never wanted to travel via Mumbai. They advised me to contact the Air India Citi Office for necessary rectification.
4. On contacting Air India City Office, they expressed their inability to help and advised me to approach ecommerce department insted for the needful. However they also told me tha AI 102 was a direct flight from New York to Delhi but I will have to first go to Mumbai and then take AI Flight AI 623 because my luggage will be booked accordingly.
5. It is therefore Not Understood as to why I am being sent to Mumbai when I requested for a direct flight from New York to Delhi. There appears to be some error that may please be corrected at your end. You are requested to make necessary changes and issue me a fresh ticket after rectifying the mistake.
7. You are also requested to please refund the excess fare charged from me for the extra journey from Delhi to Mumbai and back to Delhi. The matter may please be treated as urgent since I am unable to withstand the extra stress of changing the flights being hypertensive,
Thanks

I was to go Delhi from Kolkata on May 1, 2011 and come back to Kolkata on May 5, 2011 against my Ticket Number 098-2100731652 and Booking Reference was AIBE544420. I purchased the tickets at the cost of Rs. 13022.00 using my credit card thru Air India website.
I was forced to cancel the Tickets due to PILOT strike of Air India. Although the Air India declared full refund, the web cancellation was asking for huge penalty. This compelled me to go the Airline City office of Kolkata at C.R. Avenue and the DUTY manager cancelled the ticket and wrote for full refund on the ticket followed by an email to ecommerce office and asked me to send my copy of ticket with his endorsement to ecommerce office by email. I did it and the tickets got cancelled on 30th April 2011 but without any refund.
I had sent scanned copy of the Ticket asking for refund on 30th April followed by many reminders but without any result. Then I took the case with Customer care who took note of all information and told me that within three working days the refund will be made. But did not. Today -the 8th June 2011 again I went to Kolkata City office and met the same Duty Officer and on checking he found NO ACTION taken by ecommerce office for the refund. On my request he sent an email to them again.
What should I do now ?
Is it the way Air India functions ? Is it our fault that we wanted to travel by Air India although there are so many alternatives available in India.
Yours

Hello,
I had booked Air India flight no AI 9805 on 02 nov 2011 for a travel on date 04 Nov 2011 from delhi to kullu scheduled at 7am.
on reaching the airport, amid all odds of early morning transport, i was informed at boarding pass counter that the flight is cancelled.
The cancellation of Flight was not informed, nor on Phone nor Sms nor email, while I had given all the contact details.
The concerned airline manager told that they had informed the Travel Agent, and that idiot didnt even knew I had made the ticket myself.
I want to seek compensation for this, as i had to attend a important bussiness meeting and family festival to attend which resulted in huge financial and emotional loss to me.
Further, no proper communication was made and no efforts and help given to me for rescheduling or alternate flights, and apart frm me there were dozen of other worried and helpless passengers too.
Finally they told me that money would be refunded and i have to call at a number 01124622220, but again the operator kept on giving the extension but no one picked the call (10:30am).
This callous attitude of airlines just because they are of government doesnt grant them the right to humilate and do what they can without any fear.
I wan to file a case in consumer court.

Dear Sir,
I had booked Air India Flight No. AI-711 (Airline PNR - J3EE1) from Aizawl to Kolkata for the journey on 21 Oct 2011. I started my journey by road from Lunglei on 20 Oct 11 at 1400 hrs and I reached Aizawl city at 2145 hrs to catch the next day flight. I had night halt at Aizawl and reached airport at 0900 hrs on 21 Oct 11. I inquired from the Air India counter at Aizawl airport about the status of flight. I was told that the flight AI-711 is as per its schedule, only Imphal trip was cancelled that day. I got suspicious and every hourly I inquired from the counter since 0900 hrs on 21 Oct 11. At about 1440 hrs again when I inquired the status, I was told that the flight is delayed and it will arrive at 1630 hrs. The suddenly after 40 minutes when Jet Konnect flight landed, I observed panic movement of Air India staff over there. After lot of interrogation, I could come to know few passengers of Air India were given boarding pass in Jet Konnect. This all happened without any announcement that Air India flight is cancelled. Weather was also clear that day because all the flights landed and took off that particular day. I also tried hard to get the boarding pass in Jet Konnect, but by then the aircraft was full by the passengers. I requested Air India Staff stating that I had a reserved train ticket in Duronto Express from "Howrah to Pune" for next day morning i.e, 22 Oct 11 and the departure time was 0830 hrs. But my request went in deaf ears and finally I was airlifted from Aizawl to Kolkata on 22 Oct 11 and I reached the Kolkata airport at around 1230 hrs. By the time I missed my train and bore a loss of Rs. 1220/- because I got my ticket cancelled and got half the fare of 2AC from Howrah to Pune. Since it was peak time due to Diwali and I could not get any reservation in train. Here I would like to mention that I am in defence services and presently serving in Air Force at Lungie. I had only 13 days leave to reach to pune and back to Aizwal. Finally, I was compelled to take airticket from Kolkata to Bombay for Rs. 6384 in Jet Airways (Flight No.SZ 704, PNR- LMHKMR) and finally I boarded a train without reservation from Mumbai to Pune.
I kept requesting the Air India Staff available at Aizawl airport that for their mismanagement I went under mental pressure and huge loss of money. I repeatedly requested them to make arrangement for train reservation and airlift to pune. But there was no one to listen. I sincerely request your honour to kindly look into the matter and refund me my over expendiutre than my schedule because of airindia mismanagement. If you I will send you all the documentary evidence like the flight tickets and cancelled rail reservation ticket. Hope this time my problems will not go in deaf ears and definitely some action would be initiated to compensate me. Of course the mental torture which I underwent will not be shared by any one but at least the concerned must be warned and punished for their lapses.
Yours sincerely,
Dinesh Vishwakarma
Airinndia which reflect the image of the country..and the people who answers the coustmer care complaints are just waste!!!!! the way they answer the calls are like people who are unaducated and given the jobs without any qualifiaction one example of Ms RATNA DANIEL the lady was so rude instead of helping the guest complaints they are more intrusted to fight....Fnny!!!!! if these people are not able to handle to night shifts better they sit at home instead of wasting our time!!
I know no buddy gonna see this complaints!!!! but the service is pethatic!!!!![]()
On Sunday (4th Dec 2011), While travelling from London to Kolkata via Delhi (AI112), one of my Lighters (worth Rs 1000 +) was collected by the Air india staff (They collected it from customs people so that I can collect it from the Air India Office later.. Even one entry is there in Customs record). The Air India staff gave the their name and contact numbers which are : Mr Srinivasan and Miss Anju (I am not mentioning the contact number here)
On monday when I contacted Anju she told me that it is with her Boss. But to my surprise, now when I tried to contact them today they are telling me that it is not with them anymore. Clearly Anju's boss has taken it and is not willing to return it.
Even one entry is there in Customs diary regarding this item and that it was collected by Miss Anju.
This is very cheap behaviour on part of Air India officials.
This whole country's full of thieves.
I want my lighter back. Please look into this.
//* Anju and Mr Srinivasan did seem helpful in this matter earlier. //

On the 5th day of April 2012, I planned to fly with Air-India to Chennai from Singapore with my family (my wife & 2.5yr old son). After reaching Singapore Changi airport 2hour before flight departure, we realize that flight was cancelled only after looking to flight status board. We are shocked as we didn’t receive any cancelation information to our Email address & Phone numbers. We even choose the seat numbers in the flight.
The intolerable episode is, there is no Air-India representative at the Check-in counter to assist or answer about the flight cancellation. The Boarding staff (not from Air-India, Changi airport staff) told us to wait aside, since there is another flight Singapore-Mumbai (stops at Chennai) where they might place us if there are any cancellations (seat availabilities), Boarding staff told us that Air-India in-charge is busy doing other operations, so that they can’t attend to this cancelation passengers . It is upon our pure luck, no guarantee about the Journey.
Our journey that day was so important, and we have connected journey reservations (journey time about 7hours) to take us to our home town in Andhra Pradesh (Indian state). Along with us there are over 25passengers, finally the customer boarding staff places my family in the Singapore-Mumbai flight in the last minute. I am not aware, what happen to rest of the passengers.
Why Air-India haven’t inform it’s passenger about the flight cancelations (at least one day before)?
Why there is no Air-India representative to answer the Passengers.
